In today's video, I share my thoughts on/the lessons I've learned from the world of self improvement, speaking specifically about my favourite self help book, The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale.

Recipe:
225ml water
75 butter
96g plain flour
3 eggs, beaten
600ml double cream
2 tbsp freeze dried raspberries
400g icing sugar
pink food colouring paste
100g white chocolate

Preheat oven to 180 (fan).
Put butter/water in pan, bring slowly to the boil.
Tip in flour, remove from heat, stir vigorously.
When smooth paste develops, return pan to the heat, stirring.
Mixture will dry out a little and form a soft ball that comes away from sides of the pan.
Remove pan from heat, let cool slightly, gradually add eggs (might not need all!), beating well until mixture is smooth/glossy.
Spoon mixture into piping bag. Sprinkle baking sheet with water and pipe mixture.
Bake for 10 mins, then reduce heat to 170 and bake for further 20 mins.
Cut éclairs in half, transfer to a wire rack to cook completely.
Once éclairs have cooled, whip cream to soft peaks, add raspberries/blob of jam, pipe into eclairs.
Add icing sugar to bowl, add enough water to make a stiff icing. Add food coloring then pipe onto eclairs. Melt the chocolate drops then drizzle in zig zag pattern.

You are a very deep young man. It is very refreshing to see your baking skills as well as your kindness towards your kitty.

Hi George, being 70 and retired, I do the exact opposite of trying to do everything all the time, I enjoy doing nothing and doing it when and where I want! PS That includes listening to classical music on a great audio a great sponsor playing with my 9 yr. old kitty cat!

A few minutes of listening to you, George, and I feel better already. Thank you.

You've perfected the fine art of soothing bakery videos with meaningful banter and a sprinkle of gentle advertising of products I actually want. It's been a tough day, thank you for this George, I hope Junior settles soon.

Hello patchy ! I'm always happy to see your videos, hear your voice, and watch you bake.
No one else is like you, and nobody makes videos like yours. Thank you so much.
That beautiful cabinet is a lovely addition to home, along with your new turntable and speakers.
Sorry to hear that Junior hasn't yet found herself in your new home. Take special care of yourself.

Thank you George. It helped me tremendously that you said that sometimes things happen that are out of our control. Especially here in the states there is this constant pushing blame on people who are suffering in any way.

It’s their mindset. It’s their thoughts - they should not have negative thoughts. All you have to do is think differently and your problems will all go away! Stop choosing wrong!

It is exhausting and leads to loss of hope, self esteem, self worth, confidence - the more you try to think yourself “better”, the worse you feel….

Thanks for throwing out a life raft for people.

Sometimes if you take a mat or blanket that your cat uses and rub it around the skirting boards and some of the furniture it can help them feel more at home and settle in. Something to do with their scent being on everything. It might help as I imagine she is finding it all a bit strange for now.

My goal in life is to be at peace with myself and impact others kindly. I've always had difficulty with set goals because things and career timelines don't impact me deeply. In the boat analogy, my goal is to enjoy the air and help everyone else on the boat also appreciate their time. Thanks for the reminder we define happiness and joy differently :)

George, I’m so very thankful that your 1st video found me on YouTube when you first started posted. Your classic humor while speaking of serious health issues is so appreciated. I don’t always comment due to the fact that I just want to soak in all the wonderful -ness you so gently offer all of us.
I am living with 3 chronic overlapping health issues on a daily basis and you, young man are a gift that keeps giving: entertainment, wisdom and wise, heartfelt information.
It is a joyful experience when you post as I’m sure others will agree with.
How many vinyl records have I given away! I want my Neil Young records replaced and to purchase a Marley player!

I hear you on the health part. I had an accident 8 years ago (I was 26) and have had to let go of several dreams, because they are not possible anymore.
I’m still setting goals, they are just so much smaller/different. Because if I don’t I set myself up for failing and disappointment.
But since accepting this, I’ve felt much happier.
In my early 20s I read the book Selfcompassion. It helped me so much.

In regards to goals and illness, it's a good reminder that goals can be small. A goal could mean planning to get up, shower and dress before midday. It's still goal setting. Having depression myself, it was the small goal setting that aided my recovery. Having said that, I'm in a funk again, and your video was apt, and it's time for me to start setting goals, and starting with small achievable goals is a great start.

The most useful book I ever had was Katherine Whithorne's "Cooking in a bedsitter". For several years I had only a single electric ring, and she showed how one could produce a delicious three-course dinner with this and a single saucepan. I still use some of her recipes, though I now have a four-ring hob, electric oven and grill.

You have me curious about the book. I was born in 1952, times were so different. Your treats you made are gorgeous! Wish I had one or two!

Your videos are the only ones with sponsor spots/sections that i don't skip. Really enjoy listening to you explain and describe the things you get and love that you only do quality products.

Hi George, love ya :)

Edit: Had to drop that before even finishing the vid. Been watching for a while and genuinely like your content, your takes on things and especially the calm vibes paired with your humor.
