Fort Lauderdale Airshow Mid Air Collision - Polaris Ghost Squadron

While at the Fort Lauderdale airshow I managed to capture a video of what appears to be two aircraft of the Polaris Ghost Squadron colliding

Later on Facebook it was posted that two aircraft touched wingtips and had to land early out of precaution

I am not entirely sure if the collision is actually shown in the video, but the splitting of the formation indicates what occurred was not part of the demonstration

!!! Nobody was injured

33 year Viper crew chief here, always grateful when the drivers bring the airplane back, don't care if it's broken, if you can't bring it back, get the hell out of it! EXCELLENT cool headed flying there gentlemen, well done!

What incredible footage and thank you for sharing . Great recovery and the breakaway of formation was performed flawlessly. That could’ve been catastrophic but great flying from all pilots involved. 🙏🏼

Its always amazing to see the pilots got back down safely.
Its obvious there was constant observation and communications because once contact was made, everyone knew it and all seemed to break away just as drilled or practiced.
Beautifully saving lives as a result. Better safe than sorry.

So happy this wasnt a crash that ended in a fire ball.

I would like to thank the guy that made the red circle, and all the NTSB investigators in the comment section.

that was wild.. these guys are so lucky and skilled to recover from that. 3 planes touched here and all immediately had to react perfectly in different ways

I was just getting ready to leave when I saw that! It's incredible how they were able to recover so effortlessly!

I have no affiliation with this channel at all and I am pretty sure this is the first video that I have watched from this channel. That said if you are one of the 96% that have not maybe GIVE THIS VIDEO A THUMBS UP! You know, if you happen to like this video.

I don't think there could have been a better outcome. Those pilots knew exactly what to do in such a situation. Great "Johnny on the Spot" video, Frog!

We practiced that breakaway in Beggar's Canyon back on Tatooine all the time.

Actually three aircraft collided!!! The aircraft (consider no 4) behind the leader (no 1) went too close to the aircraft (no 3) left of the leader, slightly nudging the right elevator of that aircraft (no 3). This causes the aircraft (no 3) to roll to the left and pitch upward uncommanded. Because of this roll and pith, no 3 aircraft's right wing tip made contact with no 1 aircraft's right elevator. As a result right wing tip of no 3 aircraft bent downward. Good to see that all of the aircraft landed safely after this collision.

Could have been a catastrophe.

Finally seeing footage after every news channel keeps playing damn stock footage of the T-Birds 😂 was seriously pissing me off. I was there on Saturday so I missed out on the drama

Thanks for the circle, I was watching a completely different part of the screen and would have missed the planes.

Level headed flying at its best in time of trouble. So glad to see a safe ending to a near catastrophe.

I'd say you caught it, Two's wingtip looks a tad floppy at the end. After a few replays I feel like he tipped One's left elevator but can't see if it's damaged. Kinda looks like he gave him a nose down and the nose up was pilot induced reaction which helps the other three break formation. I even heard the bassline from the matrix when Four did the roll. Three was like "Where'd those guys go?!"
