I bought a vintage Swingline rivet tool which looks very similar to the Arrow brand. In the instructions it says to prolong the life of the tool, place a drop of oil on moving parts and disassemble to clean the jaws. These video instructions worked way better than the diagram and brief instructions in the pamphlet. Thank you for this video!

I purchased a rivet gun some time back...just opened it...it didn't work. I found your video, watched it...took a look down the working end of the barrel and could see right away that the jaws were not lined up together...they were off just a little tiny bit. But I didn't have a pen, so went to my daughters to borrow a pen. Watched your video again and she wanted to try it, in a few mins it was working fine. Thanks so much!

Ooh..., my 'Crescent" Rivet Gun was so frustrating, jamming every time I used the gun. I stripped it, followed your assembly instructions and found the problem to be the one 'tip' was grabbing! Went up a size and 'happy days'. Thanks.

I just wanted to point out what happened to me just in case it hapens the same to somebody else to solve the problem if this tool gets stuck.

I have this same rivet tool, and it continuously got stuck without being able to fix the rivet properly, and I had to end up dissasemblying the whole tool in order to take out the rivet. I didn´t know what was going on, all the parts seemed to be in good shape, nothing was broken.

Finally, I had a small idea of oiling the two small pieces that make the pulling strength and the inside cilinder, as I was suspecting this three parts were getting stuck together with the rivet when the pulling actions was done.

It worked perfectlly well !! Now I can use it without any problem, just as the first day.

So basically, it was a problem with the friction, there must be some oil in the pulling parts so that the tool can do its job.

If you see this tool (and any other rivet tool) gets stuck continously, DON´T THROW IT AWAY. Some lubrication will fix it.

THANK I disassembled my rivet tool to free a spent rivet and was about to throw it away because I couldn't figure out how to get the jaws back in ... your vid saved my tool from the recycle bin...
