Only because he played for such a damn long time did it take this long for the Blackhawks to retire the number 7. What a player.

I wonder how Brent Seabrook feels about this? Chelios is the "OG" #7, but Brent helped contribute to 3 Stanley Cup championships for the organization.

Glad Chelios recognized Kane in a Detroit uniform being goofy

As a red wings fan, can’t blame Chris for going back to Chicago. He was the second best defenseman in Detroit at the time, no shame in that.

As a Red Wings fan I loved this. Chelios was one of my favorite Red Wings. In his 10, 11yrs in Detroit he helped us win 2 Cups, he went to 3 Cup finals in Detroit. He won the Silver medal in the Olympics for team USA in 01-02, which he was captain. He was nominated for a Norris Trophy in 02. He lost to his teammate Nick Lidstrom. When he was traded to Detroit in 1999, I bought his jersey a couple days later and still wear it. I just bought Kane’s Detroit jersey. I hope we extend his contract. Also, Chelly had a no trade clause. He had to waive it to come to Detroit.

Chelios didn't mention that he started as a forward and it was Bob Parker who taught him how to play defence. I asked Bob, "what made Chelios so good?" Bob said, "he was the quickest learner I've ever seen. I only had to show him something once and he got it."

23:55 As the son of 2 retired Chicago Police officers, this meant a lot to me; especially now when being a police officer isn’t exactly a job that everyone in the world admires (including the god damn mayor of Chicago). Thank you, Cheli.

As a Chicagoan now living in the Carolinas that made me home sick. That era of Blackhawks and Bulls teams were special.
