Thanks for your review. Although I share your feelings on the lack of bass (occasionally), I truly love the 800S soundstage, feel and also instrument separation. I bought now an iFI micro black label, and I find that the iFi’s XBASS function perfectly addresses all my complaints. The sound is richer now, full of bass but still not overblown or artificial. They are perfect open cans now.

Hi, at the moment, I'm using LCD-2 with Cardas cables, and hd 650 with plus sound silver cables . I'm very curious to try the HD800S, but I have no chance to try without buying it, because the local dealer doesn't have this model for demo .Do you think it is a good move from lcd2 and hd650 to hd800s ? does it make me more satisfied ?

It would be great if the HD800S had what you are talking about, on top of how great it already is.
Never tried them, but It sounds like we have the same preference in sound. Would love to hear what kind you like the most.

I circumstantially agree with this. However I use the HD800s explicitly with ToneKraft, the sound is now deeper in bass, better seperation, smooth and tops my list of organics! Give it a test and let me know how you feel:)

I really can't imagine ever getting rid of my 800 S!!
I think if I was to exchange them for another pair such as the odZ lineup, I would always look back

I was deciding between this and the TH900 about a month ago. I went to a shop and demo'd them and while the mids and highs are amazing, it was lacking in bass like you said. I ended up getting the TH900 and am very happy with them. Massive bass. I love the sub-bass and highs, but the mids are lacking. Since I'm a basshead this is the perfect headphone for me.

As you've sold the LCD 2 and HD800S which high end headphone would you currently recommend?

I have also a HD800S with Audio-GD equipment, and I'm going to buy next month an Utopia or LCD-4 (haven't decided yet) however I'm not going to sell the Sennheiser. I love it too much.

thank you for your feedback, as I mentioned, I own the HD650 with an silver plated upgraded cable, and it's lovely, I also have the Audeze lcd2 with Cardas cables . So, you think I get more from the HD800S, or not ?

Just get the Sennheiser HE 1... there won't be any misgivings on performance and you won't have to buy another pair of cans for the next 25 years. But I agree with you that the 800S (using it with Chord Mojo) does sound lean, particularly in the bass... but mids and treble sound great, soundstage and details is excellent.

What would you use to "EQ" your headphones? Most headphone amps have no EQ.
