A CV axle has flexible joints. Often, these joints wear out, or seize from contaminants due to the protective boot tearing open. A worn joint is prone to breakage, or other hazards. If your vehicle needs a new CV axle, install a quality TRQ axle that is engineered to your vehicle’s specifications. This video shows you how to install one in your 2009-2015 Toyota Prius.

This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2010 Toyota Prius
2011 Toyota Prius
2012 Toyota Prius
2013 Toyota Prius
2014 Toyota Prius
2015 Toyota Prius

Turns out this is the same procedure for a 2008 Prius as well. I dont have a lift I used jack stands, it should be noted that you need a 32 millimeter socket, I didnt have a twelve point and for reasons unexplained a six point needs to be hammered on but it will work. The new shaft came with a six point nut which was very civilized. It should also be noted that when you pull the old shaft it will slide off that inner stub shaft and drop right on your face and dump a bunch of melted grease right onto the floor. Good times. When he says "might lose a little fluid" what he means is once you finally get the stub shaft out of the transmission it will cough out about a quart and a half of ATF all over the floor, so have some of that handy. Its also not a terrible idea to order the seal when you order the new shaft. Other than that it was about the easiest CV shaft replacement I have ever done. Thanks for the video.

Is it not required to top off the transmission fluid that is lost when the shaft was pulled out? To top off the trnasmission fluid, Is it to be done from underneath the body or from top under the hood?

All lies when it comes to cv acel removal. There are no routes to the cv axel from under the car. Not possible. This is not a prius bottom as once he takes off the wheel, its a different Toyota
