Simplest way to be in a recession right now is to revise the CPI numbers. If real inflation is higher than reported, we are in recession by default since GDP= Nominal -Real.
Its the simplest n best explanation that suddenly fixes all the models that dont make sense. Plug in a higher inflation number in the equation, n all the trends of last 2 years make sense.
