I am so excited for this movie. But also cautiously optimistic.

I picture Gary as that comic relief character who is misunderstood and really helps out Nick and Judy on their investigation. I think we learn more about why mammals and reptiles separated and how come they have such a huge rivalry to the point they don’t interact.

I also think there’ll be a subplot that really digs further into Nick’s past and we learn more about why he became a con artist, why he chose to become a cop and most of all, what happened to his parents and if they’re even alive. I could see Gary playing a combination of Bruno and Perrito where he is really the character that helps Nick to crack open his shell and open up. I think Nick learns more about not being afraid to express himself and Gary convinces him that he should always talk to Judy and how he truly feels about their partnership. I could anticipate Nick may want to be more just partners on the force.

Gary the Snake will be appearing as a comic relief character in Zootopia 2 who has an actual purpose to the story like Genie in Aladdin in terms of helping Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps increase and strength their romantic relationship with each other while Nibbles the Beaver will be appearing as a mentor to Nick and Judy related to Big Mama’s role as Tod’s mentor in The Fox and the Hound.

Really excited about the movie! I'm curious about the people born under snakes in Chinese zodiacs to be devoted lovers that won't fall for anyone else, and the year of the snake being a year ripe for romance, I hope its foreshadowing to see something blooming between Nick and Judy on the big screen!
