"Alaska voters favored a ballot measure backed by labor unions by a margin of 12.46 percentage points with roughly 70% of the ballots counted early Wednesday.

Voters weighed in on Ballot Measure 1, which would provide three new protections for workers: an increase in the minimum wage, a mandate for paid sick leave and protection against employer-required attendance at political or religious meetings or events unrelated to job duties."

Minimum wage would be a moot point if wages were required to be pegged to some kind of index like inflation like how SSI and government pensions are. Thats the kind of world a true intelligent democrat should be living in.

With my job in Sydney, Australia. I get 15 paid sick leave days each year and whatever days arent used roll over to the following year. I have accumulated over 1200 hours of paid sick leave 8n the 15+ years ive been on the job. Its the railways i work for which is a public service, not privately run but the conditions we have have been fought for by the railways union over the last 100 years

The thing that both sides won't acknowledge is there is a legit populism among economic things like wages, health care, donor class, manipulation of food and pharmaceutical issues (solutions may vary) and they sit on opposite sides social things like kid trans rights, DEI initiatives, women's health care, etc.
