its amazing how they were able to make wheatleys expression look so damn SAD when he has practically no facial features

My opinion on this is that Wheatley is genuinely sorry, he didn't understand how much power Glados had when he got plugged in and was driven crazy just like Glados was, when she was a potato she was less "I want to test/kill you" and more human just like Wheatley, so my understanding is that what they were hooked up to drove the robots mad.

I accepted his apology cus I thought this as I played it, just made sense to me.

I love this game so much that I'm willing to overlook the fact that sound doesn't travel in space.

Anybody forgives Wheatly? He's my favorite character... Besides GLaDOS and the space sphere...

I wish Chell's first and only words in the series would be forgiving Wheatley.

Guyyys poor guy. He’s just as big of a victim as everyone else here, honestly.

1. He wasn’t made for GlaDOS’ body and it most likely corrupted him, which probably changed his personality quite a bit too, obviously. Several people believe that it’s just him getting high on himself due to the power, but I mean, he totally did a fricking 180 after he was plugged into the body, like it doesn’t even feel natural. GlaDOS was literally able to become WAY more humane once she got out of her body. She even got in touch with her inner Caroline. Is it a coincidence that our friendly little boy and GlaDOS the blood thirsty literally switched personalities after Wheatley took over the facility? I THINK NOT. The system was literally giving him a rash when he wasn’t testing, and he couldn’t exactly let Chell go anytime soon because she was the only subject there, until Wheatley found out about the Co-op robots, which is where he decided he could get rid of her since he didn’t need her anymore, but that was when he was already deep into the madness. The system literally made him into a drug-addict though, for goodness sake. This isn’t even funny. OH AND ALSO, He was already damaged by GlaDOS before taking over the facility. He constantly sparked and ticked, you know, after he got CRUSHED. Like, that probably didn’t help the whole corruption-situation either, just saying.

2. Wheatley obviously has a some sort of complex surrounding his vulnerability. He’s just a tiny core in a huge facility. He’s in a situation where he fully depends on Chell. It’s either that or he’ll never get out of the facility, so he unplugs himself from the rail, even though he was told he’d straight up die if he did that. It is clear that Chell is like his only hope. There’s a “secret” line that pops up if you wait enough at some when you’re on the stairs where he desperately tells you not to jump down a bottomless pit, and to be careful in general, cause you’re holding him at that point in the game, and he himself would not be able to stop you if you suddenly decided to do that. He literally states that “You’re my rail now”. This poor guy, he’s completely helpless, at least without a “rail”, and his life is basically at your mercy right there and then. Then at some point he risks his life AGAIN when turning the flashlight on. Yes, it didn’t actually kill him, but did he know that? No. No he didn’t. It is true what he states later on. He did sacrifice himself for him and Chell to get here, in a way.

3. As GlaDOS states, Wheatley was literally programmed to make the worst choices possible. He was literally built with the soul purpose of making GlaDOS dumber, to dampen her intellect. Since he’s programmed to be a “moron” there isn’t that much he can do about it, right? Just imagine knowing that you were always meant to be a failure, and that there’s nothing you can do about it. GlaDOS then starts to rub this in after he takes over the facility, and it’s CLEARLY a touchy subject to him. Like, I can’t even blame him for raging as much as he did at this point. He then acts like he’s in denial, but I personally think that he already knew about this. Why else would he be this angry? He didn’t even sound confused. He just refused to listen to it. Our little boy has just straight up had enough of this, of the heartbreaking truth.

4. When we see him in space later on, talking about him regretting what he’s done, he genuinely sounds, well, genuine. He’s genuinely sorry for what he’s done to Chell, and he immediately acknowledges that he’s been acting like a total monster. It seems as if he’s gone back to his usual self, but unfortunately it’s too late. The end.

Now, time to give the boy some credit, too.

1. For a core that’s programmed to come up with the worst ideas possible, he did come up with some good, or dare I even say great, ideas, like the the idea of messing up the turret-system. True, Chell was the one who thought of replacing the role-model turret with a detective turret, but Wheatley was the one to come up with ruining the system in the first place. Then his next brilliant idea was to mess with the neurotoxin, GlaDOS’ favorite and most dangerous weapon. What’s stupid and what’s brilliant depends on the goal, and at the time, the goal was to mess things up for GlaDOS, and get a bigger chance of survival as well, I suppose. And it all worked out, thanks to him. Thanks to him, GlaDOS didn’t get to kill Chell the moment she confronted her.

2. After taking over the facility, he immediately fixed what he and Chell have ruined, aka the turrets and the neurotoxin. He also took the time to re-watch Chell and GlaDOS’ fight and get prepared for own his battle with Chell, with shields and everything. At the end of the day, he’s had more good ideas than he’s getting credit for. He may be making stupid decisions most of the time, but for a core that’s supposed to only make bad decisions, he’s actually managed to make some good ones too. So to be able to make a few ACTUALLY good decisions, to him, it’s a huge win. Too bad he didn’t get any praise for this in the game, cause it’s actually quite admirable when I think about it.

Our boy did his best, he really did.

I don't blame Wheatley going crazy with power when being in control of the whole facility. I think it had something to do with the GLaDOS's body. Can someone correct me on that?

So heartwarming when the space core is like “I’m in space” and Wheatley’s like “yea I know bro me too”

I cried when Wheatley had become evil and was sent off space. I cry still if I think about it. Wheatley is the 1st video game character that I got the emotionally attached to.

Its Glados' body that made Wheatley the way he was. When glados was detached, she immediately showed more human emotions.

I feel so bad for Wheatley.... At the beginning at the game and throughout, I loved working with him. And at the end when Wheatley turned evil and blah blah and got trapped in space, I nearly died of crying.

:'( I felt so terrible when I saw this. I think Wheatley really meant what he said. And I personally think it wasn't necessarily his fault, turning evil. It was the mainframe. And I mean, at the time, putting him into the mainframe seemed like a good idea (although personally, I would've just grabbed him and then run out of the facility if I could've rather than do a big confrontation with GLaDOS).
If I were Chell, I might be a little angry at first, but I would understand. And I would definitely forgive Wheatley. He was the closest thing to a friend she had in Aperture (more than that stupid Companion Cube-there, I said it).

I have a really bad feeling. When Wheatley said "The End." Did he mean.. that... There will be no next game? Is it sincerely the end? I can see this as a permanent ending....
