ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 19TH, MINOT AIR FORCE BASE HELD THE NAMING CEREMONY FOR ONE OF ITS NEW DORMITORIES. FORMERLY KNOWN SIMPLY AS DORM 221, IT’S NOW ETCHBERGER HALL, AFTER CHIEF RICHARD ETCHBERGER, WHO DIED DURING THE VIETNAM WAR, BUT WAS POSTHUMOUSLY AWARDED THE MEDAL OF HONOR FOR HIS HEROIC ACTIONS.

IT’S AN ENDURING LEGACY ON MY FATHER THAT WILL HELP THE AIRMEN LIVING HERE IN THE FUTURE HAVE A CHANCE TO LEARN HIS SOTRY OF HOW HE HELPED OTHERS. NOT JUST AT THE END OF HIS LIFE, BUT THROUGHOUT HIS LIFE. IT MEANS THAT AIRMEN OF TODAY AND THE FUTURE CAN SEE WHAT INTEGRITY FIRST, SERVICE BEFORE SELF, AND EXCELLENCE IN ALL WE DO REALLY MEANS.”
