A few extra notes to consider when tuning cars that I dont think were mentioned in this video, based on my experience in league races and such

Regarding anti-lag systems: be aware that your fuel usage goes WAY up when you're using an anti-lag system, so if you're using your car for a race with fuel consumption on, maybebconsider skipping this upgrade

Regarding custom transmission: the automatically adjusted top speed is often wildly inaccurate. To gain a more accurate idea of the actual top speed of the gearbox, look at the manual gear customisation, and the number AFTER the slash is the speed at which that gear hits the rev limiter. So for example, a gear says "0.847 / 282", so the car will hit the rev limiter in that gear at 282 km/h.

Also, an example I've had where I've adjusted individual gears was for a league with Kei Cars with a standing start. I shortened first and second gear quite a lot, as I found the car bogged down in the lower revs quite a lot from the standing start, and I wouldn't use them anywhere else in such a low-power car.

Regarding ballast and weight distribution: note that this can have a big impact on tyre wear. Th amount of impact this has is proportional to how much ballast you're running, so if for example you're running a lot of ballast and your front tyres are wearing out much faster than your opponents, consider running your ballast further to the rear, or vice versa.

Regarding suspension: spring rate also has a big effect on tyre wear. One of the guys I raced with once made his tyres last almost double the entire field in an Alphard race, and when everyone else was in awe after the race, he revealed that his secret was to run the natural frequency extremely low. Anti-roll bars and such might also have an effect, but I havent tested this myself.

I think this was kind of already mentioned to as well, but I wanted to emphasise just how important diff tuning is as well. A lot of highly upgraded road cars can be unstable under throttle or braking, which can be fixed through playing around with diff settings.

Your tuning videos have helped make me so much faster but this is the video a lot of us needed. Thanks

How do I set up my car correctly in GT7? Go on the internet and look for real sites that explain how to set up cars correctly and first things first realize that you can't set more GRIP because it is dictated by the tires! The aim is to achieve a good balance between the front axle and rear axle in terms of mechanical and aerodynamic grip. Example: What do you do about “power understeering” ar Low and middle speed? Reduce the Weightshifting to the rear axle, make the rear higher and set a higher spring rate with shock absorbers tailored to it, but note that the spring rate plus ARB value results in the overall roll tendency, which should be the same on the front and rear axles despite the different dynamic weight distribution. It is also important in Gran Turismo, because you are not actually sitting in the car and feeling how the vehicle behaves, to choose a view where you can see the vehicle's movement in relation to the road in order to adjust the car accordingly.

ive found that tuning is almost universal. exceptions being cars like the alpine a110 original, lancia stratos, and other quirky handling cars. 95 percent of the time, weight ballast, lsd, amd suspension tuning to achieve 50 50 weight is the key. of course, it all lamds on the operator. my personal settings may work for me, but not for others.

This is GT7 quality videos that require thorough digging of information. Especially the comments are great too!

You can change the units in the options on the top left where you alter such things as the button allocation are found. I haven't done it since buying the game, but it's definitely there somewhere.
A wonderful guide Chris ( still watching, just did not want forget, 😊 ), broken down in a very clear way. 🔥.

The diff is so important to how the car handles

In GTS you could copy a car’s tuning sheet and add it to another car that was exactly the same. So I could easily make two 81 turbo Porsche’s exactly the same without having to manually add each selection to the other car.

Wow Mr.D, you did an awesome job explaining all this. Most of it I had no idea how it worked. But OMG I do NOW! Thank you so very much.

Just gonna point out it’s necessary to change all gear ratios for faster lap times given not every track is the same, and also fuel saving.

Quality video! This stuff has always been a mystery to me but I'll have to give a shot at tuning some stuff myself soon.

Remember in GTS you could leave a lobby and the player in there the longest would become lobby hosts.

This will be interesting. I thought I had a handle on tuning prior to the 1.49 update.

Hello dear friend. My biggest difficulty is controlling cars that shift a lot of weight when I brake hard.

A perfect example, Toyota GR Yaris, is a nightmare! Any touch on the brake and he will try to throw the rear end.

Could you make a video teaching this configuration better so that we can resolve this, or improve it.

Thank you very much for the video, I love videos that teach and help you understand the mechanics of the game.

Man, not tuning the gearbox ratios is the biggest loss of performance you're gonna have out of tuning a car.

I bought a second 2002 NSX and did the GR2 Concept NSX engine swap and tried to build my own homemade race car out of it. Still struggling to keep the rear end planted. I did the same engine swap with the Amuse S2000 again to build my own GR3 style race car and it’s much much better but I suspect that’s because the Amuse is already setup for track use compared to the NSX road car. I’m thinking of selling the NSX now but would keep it if I could make it behave itself and be more planted.
