They really captured the tone of day 1 very well. There's a nervous excitement for students.

It's sad because this is how it is, first day in my district students fight in school, teacher breaks it up then gets threatened by bangers outside. That was middle school

I read an account of a teacher who worked at a school in a poor inner city area a long time ago. The classroom here is exactly how he described it. I wouldn't last a day doing that job.

Just substituted for the first day at a high school in Long Beach, California and I've got to say this seems pretty realistic, from what little experience I have so far.
