Dylan is such a great kid, we miss him in Edmonton. Hope he's back on the ice soon!

Best part of the video- and once again shows the class of hockey players - the ref is about to make a call when the two Bolts players skate over to tell him to wait.

My guess is that he got a “burner” from the puck. A burner (aka “stinger”) is a nerve pinch injury, caused by impact, which causes either direct or indirect damage to a nerve cluster.

The puck clearly hits Holloway in the brachial plexus (the hollow where the collarbone and the big muscles at the front of your neck meet). Either this caused damage to the nerve cluster, or swelling caused by the impact pinched the nerve cluster, causing tingling, numbness, or muscle weakness on the affected side.

Standard procedure is to assume that the symptoms are caused by spinal cord damage until proven otherwise; since the trainer was focused on solely supporting Holloway’s neck until he got backup, I’d say that this is the most likely scenario.

My man got on the stretcher still holding his stick. Wow. What a gamer.

There's a super sensitive nerve cluster right behind the jaw bone/below the ear that may have been hit. This is not at all a pleasant experience. You can basically start to lose feeling in the whole side of your head/jaw similar to a nerve being pinched in your neck.

Scary situation. Glad the team and staff were aware enough so he got the attention he needed.

Damn that's a real shame, I'm an Oilers fan and was really bummed out seeing him and Broberg go but I blamed management for that and was happy they lit it up and made their statement. It really sucks that they both got injured so early, wishing him the best.

I took a puck to the neck same way when I played junior, hit the artery, I was fine also for about 20 or 30 seconds until the swelling started, I went dizzy, sight started going weird and legs felt like they were lead.
After all the tests, Doctor said it was due to swelling!

The same thing happened to Anthony Stolarz tonight. He got a slap-shot puck right to the neck. I was surprised when he continued to play because it didn't ricochet off his shoulder like it appeared to do to Holloway, Stolarz took it full force straight to the neck (looked to be right in the jugular!). Hope Dylan is okay.

Look at the class of #11 on Tampa, doing what he can to get Wes' attention, and also how the Blues and Lightning players mix up a little bit as they are looking on with concern.
