Philbrook Museum of Art: Views of Greenwood

The newest exhibit at The Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa called “Views of Greenwood” explores the historic Greenwood district. Through photographs taken over a 55 year period, change, loss and resilience are explored. This June marks 100 years since the Tulsa Race Massacre. And currently on the exhibit is a collection from the works of three Oklahomans. All three worked directly in Greenwood for more than 55 years and they captured the resurgence after the 1921 massacre. Philbrook curators are hoping visitors also see the vibrancy, life and joy in the photographs though and take away a deeper understanding of Greenwood’s history.

It makes me sad that they destoyed it and I still dont really understand why that was allowed.
