rather of seen Jimmy DeAnda' do this.   imo,   only a handful of drummers who played during this event,   truly 'brought it'.   D'Anda,   was certainly one.  (go call up his performance doing "Royal Orleans")     and agreed.   it's so odd to see a guy (Lang)  who possesses 'Sooo much "perfect!...technical prowess,   indeed perhaps in a different setting and at a different venue, and who firmly holds a place on the 'world drum stage'  ( for 'wowing people' with his stunning chops and ability anyway...)   sort of come off here like he's...."really having to TRY HARD,   to NOT,   be Thomas Lang,   and bust into his usual "blinding riff Routine".   and....it's uncomfortable.   i agree with "Porcaro Master" down there.   it shows that,   some guys who seem to have trained from 'day one',   to blow everyone else away with all this "I must crush you" Ability,     literally have a hard time,   slipping into anything other than that "iron man" drum suit,   they otherwise always put on,   when they sit down to play.   not really trying to "knock",   one of the most prodigious drummers on the planet here,   but just observing that,   "one size...definitely doesn't ...'fit ALL',   in this case.    i found it hard to watch him,   physically straining',   to ...'calm down',   Not" play too i didn't see him  'move with the groove'.   i see him 'fighting' the spirit of John Bonham here,   and working very hard to quell his own need,   to start playing "Aga-da, Aga-da's,   all over. still,   it's a cool event,   and i guess,   the idea is that,   'everyone brings their own thing,   to at least pay homage to John.   and that can't be bad right?

Tomas is a great "technique" player. He's a great drummer but was definitely not in his best element. Bless him though, he was having a blast!

A perfect example of why Bobby Rondinelli or Simon Wright are superior in a band setting over technical gurus.  Let this video prove it once and for all...playing notes perfectly does NOT make you a great rock drummer...all those "classic rock drummers" are much better than we give them credit...they were INSIDE the pocket and Lang is so far outside of this he isn't even waiting in line for a ticket.  Totally embarrassing performance for a Bonham tribute.  This was a Lang performance and it sucked...for a man so disciplined, he had no discipline on this day.
