Bro america was still first in 1980. The Soviet military wasn’t anywhere near capable of contesting us. Our jets were better, are troops were better equipped. 70s? Maybe the Soviet Union. But things shifted in favor of the US post 60s. Up until that point the two sides were roughly equal.
