Installing Pontoon Lifting Strakes On My Tritoon

In this video I walk through the process of welding Lifting Strakes onto my 22' Tritoon. We built this boat from scratch last summer and the center toon has lifting strakes, but the outer toons do not. Adding strakes tends to help lift the boat for a higher and dryer ride plus can increase speed and fuel economy. While we saw minimal speed increase, the ride was fantastic with the spray line moving farther back on the boat and making the ride quieter, higher, and smoother. We need to change the propeller to get the right RPMs at wide open throttle which should result in a little better speed and overall performance. Stay tuned for a follow up after we swap the propeller!

I just acquired my first pontoon boat. 25 foot with a Merc 3.0L I/O (135 HP). Sat in a field for years. Got it running again, engine runs good, but tops out at 19 mph. You have inspired me to add some lifting strakes. What were the dimensions of the angle you had bent? Looked like 3x3.
