Man. I adored this movie vehemently. I'm an enormous admirer of the 1950 José Ferrer "Cyrano de Bergerac, " and was nervous but quietly hopeful that our boy Dinklage could measure up. Instead of striving for Ferrer's boisterous excellence, he went in a COMPLETELY different direction. Portraying Cyrano as a softer man, more sad than bitter, taking off the mask of stalwart, iron stiff-upper lipedness and allowing the pain to come through was an exquisite choice. Roxanne could, in moments, glimpse his love, which makes it all the more heartbreaking when her lifelong but seemingly unrequited crush for Cyrano came to some fruition and was immediately shattered.

Man. I can't wait to watch it again.
