Polly Samson was born in London in 1962. She started work as a publisher and then a freelance journalist writing features for the Observer, Guardian and the Sunday Times and the Daily Mail. For more than two years she wrote a weekly column for the Sunday Times. Her short stories have appeared in publications including the Observer and You Magazine as well as being widely anthologized and broadcast on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio Scotland.

Polly Samson has published a short story collection Lying in Bed (Virago, 1999); her first novel, Out of the Picture, (Virago, 2000); Perfect Lives, (Virago, 2010) was her second short story collection. Polly wrote the lyric to Louder Than Words on Pink Floyd's The Endless River which reached the top of the charts in 2014. Her latest novel, The Kindness, was published by Bloomsbury in March 2015.

5x15 brings together five outstanding individuals to tell of their lives, passions and inspirations. There are only two rules - no scripts and only 15 minutes each.
