This was spot on. If this was animated I would’ve thought it was an actual cartoon from the time era. Bendy mumbling to himself like Popeye and certain things being in time with the music we’re the touches that got me.

I love how the story board puts so much attention to detail with the cartoon violence humor to match with the Butcher Gang’s designs in the game itself.

Edgar gets his arm desecrated by a piano cover, it gets replace with a robotic arm in the game.

Barley gets tied up by a fishing pole, his head becomes a fishing pole in the game.

Charlie gets knocked in the head with a few bottles, his head and face are scarred and wounded in the game.

Seriously, why is nobody else pointing this out?

I think this may be the best example of modern creativity capturing the feel and style of old fashioned “rubber hose” cartoons (besides Cuphead). It keeps pace with the later, somewhat more sophisticated animations of later generations, but not so much that it would feel too alienated from the era that it’s supposed to be representing.
I imagine this cartoon as canonically one of Joey Drew Studios’ earliest attempts to make something with a little more meat on its bones than what it and its competitors were putting out before.

The music really sells the 1930’s style of cartoon music, and I love how you created lyrics for the main whistle theme of the game and even a theme song for the Butcher Gang.

Edit: also, I think Tom Kenny would make a great Bendy, don’t you think?

This is honestly stunning. As someone who used to watch a lot of those old cartoons when I was younger on Boomerang and Toonheads, I say you hit the vibe of them very well without it even being animated.


Also I love how you characterized all of them here, fitting perfectly with how their personalities were defined in both the games and the little cartoon shorts that have been coming out. Bendy especially is interesting because I always saw his cartoon character as a mischievous but not really malicious presence, more akin to Bugs Bunny than Mickey Mouse if anything despite the closer resemblance.
The 'ink demon' as his shadow when he wanted to do something devious was a nice touch. I think it would be a cool little implication with that visage of the ink demon always there, but never actually physically shown.

Bits of attention to detail I loved:


* Opening theme is the infamous whistling we hear through the games/trailers, but with lyrics.

* Again, later on, Bendy whistles the same tune himself

* During the shot of the Gang walking into the bar, we can see: The ghost and skeleton from the Buddy Boris Railway, A clown and a duck/chicken (These are the only two I don't know what they're referencing, if anything at all), A cartoonified Projectionist, A literal sheep version of Sammy Laurence, and Tom from the end of Chapter 4!

* Shortly after at 4:18 we can see Alice(Or possibly Allison, seeing as she seems to have a ponytail) sitting at a table in the top right.

* During the chase scene, the background music is actually the tune we hear the Butcher Gang sing at the start of the "episode".

* The pianist appears to be a cartoonified Lost One.

* During the shot of all of the injured gang members, all of their injuries mimic their inky "imperfections" we see in their in-game versions. (Edgar's stretched out arm, Charley's disheveled/ beat up appearance, he's even wielding a pipe, and although loosely connected, Barley being wrapped up in the fishing line resembles how his head is attached to the fishing pole in game)

* Finally, the ending theme is another variation of the whistling theme.


I probably missed some other stuff, but that's all I can find.

It's clear a lot of hard work went into this, so I just wanna let people know exactly the thought that went into this. Well done to all involved! I'd love to see more of this kind of thing in the future!
