The Morakniv Companion Vs. the Ganzo G806. How they compare?

These two knives can be found on Amazon for around the same price point. Both on the surface are very comparable. But how do they really stack up to one another in real life?

Awesome, hadn't seen a Ganzo fixed blade before. Thanks for sharing and for the tag!

Green Companion was gifted by me ages ago, but I left for myself TopQ which the same knife with a different handle materials. As for Ganzo, I have totally 4 knives FH41 (D2), FH922 (D2) black coated, FB760 (440c) and semiauto G721 (440c) - very good knives for their price.

While the ganzo is similar to the mora I don't think it is a copy as the grind is very different. Both are good knives. If you want something similar to a mora but with a standard knife grind it's a good option.

The Swedes make great steel and have heat treating figured out even at this price point. Moras are classic and timeless.

If you want that ganzo to compete with mora- cut the price in half.

I feel like out of box sharpness is irrelevant. I always end up sharpening knives when I first get them. All factory edges are crap.

Unfortuately it seems that the tip of the Ganzo breaks easily. Seen several videos on this topic. Other than that the Ganzo seems to be a nice knife.

All knives, even garbage knives & prison shanks could be made razor sharp. Where garbage knife makers cut corners is the heat treat & tempering. How many cuts of rope can you make until the ganzo dulls? How many whacks against its spine against a steel utility pole will a ganzo survive? The morakniv can cut rope a few dozen times before it dulls & it can survive at least a dozen whacks to the spine. I wager the ganzo could only take less than a dozen rope cuts & 2 to 3 whacks to the spine. Lol. Ch1na could make fabulous knives but you must have your own QC inspector IN CH1NA testing the knives before payment. However, almost nobody is willing to pay for that.
