After the patch the railgun no longer penetrates heavy armor on safe mode, so things like the heavy devastator shield will deflect it. Even on unsafe it seems to reduce damage a lot when penetrating heavy armor. I would recommend using the alternatives I go over in the video if this is a problem for you. Haven't found a hulk yet to test railgun after patch. I also want to add that mortar sentry and EMS mortar are great for bots too as long as you throw them away from the action so they aren't too vulnerable. I was going to mention this in a short segment at the end of the video, but forgot to do it. Good luck!

I like that you point out armor class on a few enemies. There's a good chunk of the community which don't know which part is what armor.

Also for factories: Autocannon can kill via the vents too. Fire at the lid, it should bounce down into the hole and explode the inside. Make sure the angle isn't too severe as if it fails to go all the way in it will not kill.

The cool thing about this is it allows you to wipe out these factories not just from a great distance, but also if you are stealthing you can take out outposts without mobs knowing where you are so long as you aren't too close and behind cover before the factory explodes.

Autocannon is good for the devastators because it make them flinch and can flinch and kill multiple devastators at the same time. Each time the shield ones flinch, they move the shield away for easy follow-ups.

So I HIGHLY recommend the following stratagems for Automatons:
Autocannon
Eagle 110 Rocket pods
Eagle Airstrike/500kg bomb
Orbital Laser

Autocannon for most fodder and certain buildings/factories.
Rocket pods are very good for tough targets like hulks or tanks. They can also destroy structures, just make sure that your target is the largest target as it does auto-target.
Eagle Airstrike for small building destruction, 500kg for when you want everything to go fuck itself.
Orbital Laser for everything: Big bots, small bots, buildings, etc. Try saving it for tough structures, but also don't fear using it for big bots or when overwhelmed.

You can use barrages for big camps if you want, I recommend the walking barrage since it has the highest chance of hitting the intended target. Just throw it inbetween you and the target, possibly a little to the right.

Main Weapons:
Sluggers: Staggers, can pen certain parts for quick kills(Glowing vents)
Punisher: Stagger, better damage up close
Liberator Penetrator: Medium pen and good accuracy
Scorcher: Explosive rounds tear bots apart, amazing crowd control

Sidearms:
Redeemer: Best panic weapon, lots of ammo, high ROF, easy reload
Senator: Lowest sound profile (best for stealth), easy headshot kills, also seems to have faster accuracy gain from stagger than the other two weapons.

If you like the first pistol, unlock the redeemer and use it in single-fire mode, same thing.

Anti material rifle and autocannon can reliably one shot or two shot the striders. You do this by hitting them on the inside of the hip joint from the front. Its a pretty big sweet spot that causes the aoe to kill the pilot.

Worth noting, you can also blow off a Hulk's legs. Destroying one will make them move way slower, destroying both will kill them instantly.
Can be handy if you're stuck fighting a hulk with an autocannon. Otherwise, it's kind of pointless - Might as well shoot the head or vents instead.

Also, I would advise an abundance of caution with Assault Troopers. That jetpack explosion CAN one-shot you even through a shield if they explode directly on top of you, and sometimes if you kill them while they're running, the physics can fling the ragdoll straight at you. If they're close, it's best to blow out their legs instead, or to dive away while shooting them.

So: there's just been a patch that improves a couple of weapons but:
1. Decreases the Breaker ammo and increases the recoil
2. Slightly increases the delay until the shield recharges
3. Most importantly for this video, decreases the penetration if the railgun IN SAFE MODE. Others have claimed that the unsafe mode is unchanged/retains the same penetration, so you'll have to time your shots well in unsafe mode for the effects mentioned in the video. Otherwise, what was said in this video should still be viable. Autocannon, grenade launcher, Antimaterial Rifle, missile launchers etc were unchanged.

For automaton factories: auto cannon shots deflect off the raised vent cover, almost always resulting in the shot’s explosion landing within the explosive trigger to destroy it.

Here is a pro tip for the devastators: When using the slugger shotgun, 2 shots to either leg will instantly kill one and is highly effective

the turret of the hmg tank is low armor, you can use a scorcher and kill them with about 10-15 shots anywere on the turret, not just the weak point
any other explosive works also
works after patch too

Laser cannon in general is really good against automatons if you're accurate, couple of seconds on weakspots kill any and all automatons .Weaker automatons are gone with a single click to the head.
The anti air tanks turret is weak against the laser support weapon and you can even hit the top of it form the front if you're slightly above it.
Can also laser gun towers in the weakspot and they wont be able to turn fast enough if you hit them consistently in the vent.
If for some reason tanks turret is obstructed perhaps due to a weird angle you can laser the rear armor of the tank for ~4-5 seconds to blow it up as well.

HMG Tank - The backpart of the hull where the engine should be can be shot with the autocannon. It is not glowing or anything but not armored.

I love the Jar Dominator for these. With the explosive damage and medium armor pen it makes it a good tool for cleaning up a bot if you could not drop it in a hit or two if you find yourself needing to reload your strategem weapon.

You can also use laser canon to kill Hulks. I found that aiming at the red glowing eye will kill it if you aim the laser at it. Not so effective compared to the other alternatives though but it does its job of exploding the hulk fully.

actually solid content, even I learned something and I thought I knew the bots really And I've done 3 bug missions, the rest all bots

I ONLY use impacts and I get them to work on the fabricators vents ( you can also wait for the doors to open if you want ).
THE CLOSER YOU ARE, the lower you need to aim. If you are at some kind of medium range, aim your grenade at the lower lip of the vent. If you are close, aim just a few inches lower under the lip. You will probably get used to it pretty soon.


here's some advice for your next guide if you do one :)
Fire damage is locational (I have seen someone claim this on discord)

The flamethrower and fire damage in general deals damage to the place it hits, not a full body DOT.

It also ignores armor and can damage weak spots. This means that a charger can be cooked in only a few seconds if you focus kne of its legs."

My strategy is also to drop samples at the extract before doing things. You don't need to bring them with you. Just pick them up before the dropship lands. And tell your teammates you're doing it so they know not to pick them up.

Man tbh your videos should be used for the official game tutorial😂 it would make sense for previous Helldivers to tell new ones about what they’ve learned in the field fighting these guys and their weaknesses

I did try using Autocannon sentry to take down a dropship. It takes about 9-12 shots to bring one down. Also have a different animation when it goes down. The dropship got broken into two pieces and fell onto the earth. in which it is cool to watch.
