RV Wifi Range Extenders - Redport vs WifiCampPro2 vs Netgear Indoor

In this video we are talking about wifi range extenders for RV's and campers, and what you might want to consider when looking around.

Overall, I'm in love with the Netgear EX6100V2 range extender, simple to install, great range, and at around $60 it won't break the bank!

The outdoor extenders require some form of a penetration point on a camper, cost more, and don't work as well IMO.
(Unless you buy the Redport Optimizer/Halo $400 version, which works very well, just tought to setup.)

The WifiCampPro2 appears to be a knock off the Redport and doesn't work as well, the range is less than the Netgear products listed below and just doesn't live up to it's price.

Products reviewed:
Indoor Range Extenders: (recommended!)

Outdoor Range Extenders:
This one only recommended if you have $400 to burn and know what you're doing.

Not recommended at all, but read the reviews on Amazon and decide for yourself.

I’m watching this three years after you made it and I actually really appreciate it. Very good food for thought.

First of all Great Video
Just a comment on the EX6100v2, I just bought two of these and they are somewhat better than the EX6100. The range is some better on the v2 with fewer drops. I found to to get better speeds when in Access Mode. I use them for 5ea 2MP WiFi Security Cameras. U have them set for max resolution at a bandwidth of 6144kbs. I have ran all 5 on one extender at one time and there was a little bit of buffering but then again that was 30720 kbs hitting a bottleneck. All in all I am real happy with them.

Thanks so much for this. The set up with the extender and router works great. And the best thing I used what I had at home with no extra cost. Appreciate it.

Thank you very much for the information @HomeAdrift. I’ve been researching WiFi range extenders to use with my Roku sticks in the camper. I think I’m going to try the NetGear device first to avoid drilling and running wire all through the coach. And probably do as you did and pair it with a router. Thanks again.

I have the camppro2v2, it's mounted on a pole at the front of our seasonal and from the back of our spot where the deck and gazebo is doing speed tests with a Samsung S22Ultra Ive gotten somewhere between 25-100% faster download speeds going thru the campro2v2 now i think thats mostly because its mounted on a pole and has direct line of site, the signal thru their app is 90% so it's pretty good. I have experienced it dropping so that is a think but all in all in the right circumstances its a good buy. My next experiment will combine 4 accesspoints connected to a load balanced router. My thought is that because they throttle each connection i can get 4x the connection speed doing this.

Look for "active" USB 3 cable. I have a Marantz microphone (USB output). Never heard a microphone with no noise before, awesome sound, and it's connected through a ~30 foot Tripp Lite active USB 2 cable to my PC. Been enjoying it for years, I'm a believer. You probably need a USB 3 port and cable for that WiFi application.

BTW I forgot to say I bought my two EX6100v2 from Amazon USED but looked new for $14.00 each. Also I went to Home Depot and bought a plastic box and made 2 holes for the antennas and hole on the side for the Ethernet cable. Also cut two slots for the AC plug. After I put it in the box I sealed around the antennas and Ethernet wire with rubber glue. Then I just plugged it into a cheap extension cord. It is mounted out on the same pole as 1 of the cameras about 15 ft. above the ground. And now it is water proof.

Great video, Aric...exactly what I was looking for. EX6100 just arrived and looking forward to get it cranking on our Thanksgiving junket up to the FL Panhandle. Once I get this connected and proven for us, I'll look at that Nighthawk router. Thank you!

Is there a WiFi extender you are aware of that I can use with 12V power? Instead of the 110v outlet? I have the WiFi Camp Pro, and I have wasted so much time to make it work it just doesn’t work. I wish I found your video before purchasing it.

How far can I be from the campus router for the extender to see the campsites Internet? We were just at site that only had connection at the office about 400 yards away. Also any updates on which extender to buy? The one in this vid is no longer available. Thanks

Thanks for the informative video/review. I see that Netgear and others also have WiFi “Mesh” extenders. Will these Mesh extenders operate the same in campgrounds as you’ve described in the video? Or, should I shy away from Mesh? One I’m looking at is the Netgear Nighthawk X4 (EX 7300).

Thanks for the in depth info! I’m kinda new to full time living in an rv! I live in an rv park. I’ve been tryin to find me a WiFi booster. The question I have is how do I use one when I don’t have access to the rv park router? I’m using theirs that’s offered. The ones I’ve looked at tell me too push a button on the router to connect booster. I’m so confused! Any help will be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!! And I’m a new subscriber!!!

If I need to get my home WiFi to my barn about 0.2 miles away in distance, will ex6100v2 pickup the signal from my house if I have an ex6100v2 at the barn with line of the sight?

Do you recommend a particular router to use with the netgear box in my RV?

My apologies in advance here, dont mean to sound like a dummy, I want to get better wifi pickup inside my Camper when at parks with wifi. If I purchase this netgear EX6150, will I NEED a router too? Or will this netgear ex6150 pull in the wifi park signal, and my devices will connect to this netgear extender booster? I dont understand. Can you please explain to help me better understand?
