Trump Ends Virus Briefing by Telling CBS News's Weijia Jiang to 'Go Ask China'

President Trump abruptly ended a coronavirus news conference shortly after an exchange with Weijia Jiang, a reporter for CBS News who was born in China. Jiang noted that Trump has repeatedly boasted that the U.S. now leads the world in the number of coronavirus tests performed and asked him, “Why does that matter? Why is this a global competition to you if every day Americas are still losing their lives and we’re still seeing more cases?”

“They’re losing their lives everywhere in the world and maybe that’s a question you should go ask China,” Trump said. “Don’t ask me, ask China that question, okay?”

Jiang responded: “Sir, why are you saying that to me, specifically, that I should ask China?”

“I’m telling you,” Trump said. “I’m not saying it specifically to anybody. I’m saying it to anybody that would ask a nasty question like that.”

Trump left the Rose Garden after the next reporter he called on, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, deferred to Jiang to continue her questions.

It actually served her right. She will still do it like she’s been irking him since March. Not once did she ask anything in a positive light. On the contrary, Trump has been calm more than half the time. This time though he lost it. He should have not taken the bait.

Normally Trump would continue on, but he did a smart thing here and just avoided a needless confrontation. The Chinese reporter was trying hard to provoke him. She is shameful. 👍👍

Just before the video starts Weijia Jiang, a White House correspondent for CBS News, charged the President with this impertinent and rather stupid question:
_-"You have said many times that the US is doing far better than any other country when it comes to testing. Why does that matter? Why is this a global competition to you if every day Americans are still losing their lives and we're still seeing more cases every day?"_

Had Trump been the Duke of Diplomacy he would of course responded: "The USA shares coronavirus news and compares statistics regularly, and learn from each other, to provide people with the best known anti-Corona measures possible."
But his answer was: "Well, they are losing their lives everywhere in the world and that question (i.e. about competition) you should maybe ask China, you may get a very unusual answer."
WHAT DID HE DO WRONG? Weijia Jiang did for sure ask a nasty question - look at it again!
