Great idea thanks...question, does the salt have a bad effect on your skin?

Thank you for this helpful video because I want to use Castille soap but it is so runny! Does it matter what type of salt to use? Another video said to use Kosher Salt. Also, would you mind providing specific measurement for the salt water recipe?

Thank you for posting this informative video. I made my first batch of liquid soap and it came out too thin for my taste and I remembered adding salt could thinking soap but I was too scare to add it without some type of validation. You have provided that and then some.... THANK YOU!

This is so useful, thank you! I have a question though, will this last for a while or will the soap thin out when it sits?

What are the measurements of water and salt to thicken up Castile soap for a face wash?

When you say 2 to 1 ratio is it 2 salt 1 water or 2 water 1 salt?

I understand that you probably misspoke when you said 2:1 of salt to water so instead of 2 parts salt to 1 part water, I weighed out 2 parts boiling water to one part salt (I used fine sea salt) and it just seems to be way too much salt for the water to hold. Despite using freshly boiled water from the kettle and stirring vigorously, there are so many grains of salt left in the water. After some experimenting I know what can happen if there are grains of salt in your salt solution and it mixes in with your Castile soap so I tried to add bits of water until the salt full dissolved. Then I spooned out some of the water into my soap and mixed. And of course it’s not working, I guess my salt mixture is too watery now, but I had to add more water for the salt to dissolve. My soap is not thickening at all, it’s just making it whiter. I am using Dr Bronners citrus liquid Castile soap (I’m adding the salt water to just that, nothing else is in the soap). What on earth am I doing wrong? Why won’t my salt dissolve in a 2:1 ratio like yours did? I’ve already wasted so much expensive Castile soap tonight experimenting 😭

How important is it to dissolve the salt in water before adding? The shampoo I made already has a lot of water as part of the ingredient.

Thanks a lot! So it is two parts water to one part salt, right? Is it distilled water? Or it doesn’t matter. Blessings❤

will this work for a DIY hand soap? I used castille soap plus water, a few drops of essential oil. But my family is complaining that it feels 'too watery' comapred to store bought.
