Great album! Found it months ago at a local thrift store. €1 in perfect shape on MPS label.

He wrote musical scores like TY Cobb got hits in baseball! Who wouldn't want these gems in their collection? Once again, terrific choices for the masses.

Wowza! Funky fresh and free! While listening I kept thinking some of these could’ve been theme songs to those 1960’s and 70’s shows which were still in syndication when I was a young kid in the 80’s. The boaty hunk of steel cars burbling down the road as the woman in the skirt walks down the road with wind in her hair. Or the cops chasing the bad guy driving those same cars like they’re go karts. My favorites were “Time and Space” and “Volcano’s Daughter” . “Born Happy” was Like: Dino, Frank, or Sammy is running late so let’s just play on repeat until they show up.

Like yesterday the Qobuz version of this also has some distortion in the horns, however it’s been rendered into a pleasing softening and syrup-like thickness rather than harshness. And oh my! This album also has “candy strings” so I’m instantly in love with it.

Nelson Riddle was a genius! Linda Rondstadt NEVER sounded better than on the "retro" music album she did with him invoking the pop music of the 30's, 40's and early 50's before ROCK&ROLL exploded onto the scene.

To me it sounds right at the four corners intersection of For Mods Only of Chico Hamilton, the weird Mod of Hugo Montenegro “Come Spy with Me” (not to mention I Dream of Jeannie), a little Basie M Squad plus a little Mancini

Each track sounds like outtakes or alternate versions of television theme shows from the late 60s to the early 70s. It’s as if I’m scrolling through a few channels on an old Zenith television set.
