A woman who sings Tom Waits? You can't do that! Yes, you can. The Norwegian singer Rebekka Bakken proved it in 2013 in an impressive way with this unique project with the Frankfurt Radio Big Band. The arrangements by conductor Jörg Achim Keller do not try to copy Tom Waits. They have their own touch and yet he knows exactly where this music belongs and how it should sound when played by a big band. "Americana" was a very successful project by Rebekka Bakken with the Frankfurt Radio Big Band, which the singer subsequently released as an album. We are happy to be able to present the live recordings again in single tracks!

Eine Frau die Tom Waits singt? Das geht doch nicht! Doch, es geht wohl. Die norwegische Sängerin Rebekka Bakken hat es 2013 in beeindruckender Art und Weise bewiesen mit diesem einmaligen Projekt mit der hr-Bigband. Die Arrangements von Dirigent Jörg Achim Keller versuchen nicht, Tom Waits zu kopieren. Sie haben eine eigene Note und doch weiß er genau, wo diese Musik hingehört und wie sie, von einer Big Band gespielt, klingen soll. „Americana“ ist ein Erfolgsprojekt von Rebekka Bakken mit der hr-Bigband, das die Sängerin anschließend auch als Album veröffentlicht hat. Wir freuen uns, die Liveaufnahmen nun noch einmal in Einzeltiteln präsentieren zu können!

Nice cover of a great song! Comparing it to the original one is futile, but I think is beautiful that young musicians keep working on immortal songs like SD Serenade.

Musically, this cover is incredible. But the vocals are totally void of passion, which is the key thing about any Tom Waits song... Or any song for that matter.

Yeah...Uh...Nice that you recognize and give tribute...and I am not belittling your N O B O D perform this song for the public, their voice would never fit. No person would attempt another Sistine Chapel because no matter how great it came out, it will always be scoffed.

She should do herself a favor and not sing jazz. Doesn't have the particular voice quality. Not saying she's a bad singer in general but definitely not a jazz singer (depth, grit, pace etc).
