Data sharing and reuse with dataflows and datasets

Power BI dataflows and datasets both provide capabilities for sharing and reusing data - but they're not interchangeable.

Thank you--this is really what I needed to help me 'cement' the difference between a data flow and data set in my mind. I now think of a data set as a paint-by-numbers experience. The drawing has been made, and colors 'suggested'. Data flows are 'create from scratch' using the same 'suggested' palette, but can include any color or design element you want/need. Very helpful!

I was having a difficult time imagining what the final solution would look like.. until I came across this video.

Do there is no best practise when to use data flow vs data set? It all depends on the situation? One good advantage of data sets is that they carry the dax calculations along into the model. Appreciate your thoughts on this,

Once I create new data model based on the existing dataflow, will the refresh depend on the original refresh schedule? e.g. Original dataflow is scheduled to be refreshed once a day but the re-used data model needs to be refreshed 8/day. is that possible? Thanks.

Since I sow this video one year ago, we use Dataflows in SPL Tele GmbH very much (actually everythin is based on Dataflows now), but we need Row Level Security on Dataflows as well. This is becose if we want to apply Dyn. RLS we have to do it on Dataset and share Dateset with users, not Dataflows. Then user can not build his own model with additional tables, he has to use our Dataset and consentwently your Data Model :(
