People are probably remembering the scene in Independence Day where Jeff Goldblum's character David Levinson opens up his laptop and is greeting by a picture of Hal 9000 and the sound "good morning Dave".

i've never heard "good morning, dave."

I honestly never remember him saying “good morning, Dave.”

File this under the "Beam me up, Scotty" effect.

Its because of a scene in Independence Day where a laptop says the line when it is turned on

HAL SAYS " GOOD EVENING DAVE " IN THE SCENE WERE DAVE IS DRAWING IN A NOTE PAD. MOST LIKELY THIS LINE WAS REMEMBERED INCORRECTLY AS" GOOD MORNING DAVE" SOURCE 2007 DVD SPECIAL EDITION.

I think i found a new mandela effect. "I'm sorry Dave, but this conversation can no longer serve any useful purpose, Goodbye." This line has changed in my experience. I have a new video on it.

I remember "Good morning, Dave" in a non-Space Odyssey context, but I can't remember what it was. It was clearly referencing 2001, but it was a totally different movie. Maybe it was Back to the Future 2? Blade Runner? It was something like that.
EDIT: Nick below commented 6 hours after this one EXACTLY what I was remembering. It was Independence Day, where the main character "Dave" opened his laptop on the alien spacecraft and it said in a Hal9000 voice "Good Morning Dave." 100% it was this.

It’s a Mandela effect. Watch Geordie Rose with CERN. They were opening portals to allow things to come through.

It is "Good morning, Dave."
I have been increasingly noticing snippets of scenes now missing from films...a line of dialogue. They are so picayune that would be absurd to go into! But, I am a nerd cinephile, with an encyclopedic recall of films that I like. I look upon this as the ongoing unraveling of the fabric of reality.

There is no Mandala effect. All human brains instinctively organize data. All data. So when someone misquotes a line in a movie, the people listening will have their brain either accept it or correct it (some ignore it) but they're all trying to make sense of the data.

Maybe it is, depending on how you define the Mandela Effect. If you believe it's just the fallibility of human memory, than, yea, it's the Mandela Effect.
I think the fact that inaccurate movie quotes are quite common in film and other media, I don't think it's mysterious at all. "Luke, I am your father." and "beam me up Scotty" and even Carl Segan saying "Billions and billions" are just a few examples.
I'm not sure because it's been years since I read the book, but it's possible this quote is from the book.

Odd. I'd never heard anyone say that or claim that was there.

All Mandela effects are misremembered or misquoted things. Like "play it again, Sam" from Casablanca.

Has anyone noticed the spelling of the word, "odyssey, " has changed? Wasn't it, "oddessy, " before? 🙃

I do not recall that line being vocalized in the film. The line I remember is, "My god, it's full of stars!", and I am not confusing this with the book, nor with the sequel film.
