Belize Stands in Solidarity with Taiwan

At the inaugural ceremony, Ambassador Dr Candice Pitts also expressed Belize’s solidarity with Taiwan, who for the past fifty years has been earnestly asking for support to be re-included in the United Nations (UN). The seventy-seventh session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA77) held its opening ceremony yesterday; however, Taiwan will not be participating due to being removed back in 1971 when the People’s Republic of China (PRC) became a permanent member of the network. Ambassador Pitts states that Belize supports Taiwan’s right to participate in global affairs.
