A lot of people are missing the fact that shes critiquing a character turnaround specifically, and are saying stuff like “the leg would look like that in that perspective”, or “this is correcting anatomy not telling us how to design characters”. She critiquing someones portfolio to get hired, and a character turnaround like this is used by a 3d modeller to create the character in 3d. This means there should be no perspective or foreshortening at all - every elipse should be a straight line to create an accurate flat sheet for the modeller to sculpt ontop of an image plane. Yes, if this was an illustration or a character sketch that wasnt to be used for modelling, the way this person had it is good enough and the crit might seem nitpicky. However this is for a very specific purpose, and the things she is pointing out are necessary to fix on these because with these errors, the page is not useful for the modeller and she would be made to correct it if this was in a work environment.

People really down here complaining about this one tiny clip without bothering to understand turnarounds or watch the whole video for context😂

It's funny seeing all the people with probably zero experience criticizing the critique of a PROFESSIONAL!

How can someone purposefully ignore advice from a professional just to feel better about themselves?

Some people in your comments could never go to school for Animation. Criticism needs to happen so you can learn and it's done in front of your whole class.

keep in mind this kinda stuff is probably for 2d animated shows where they have a rigged 2d puppet which makes sense to have the same thickness and symmetry. If you want more realistic proportions, stick with anime

I like seeing the breakdown for all the changes and why, i love learning how more professional artists think through things. i do like the longer neck look though, I feel like it be better to move it down just the slightest bit, but not nearly as much as you showed. The longer neck does a good job showing the characters body type to be tall and lanky. Personal preference tho
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Those are for PROFESSIONAL WORK, is not about the design or the art, but about it on a specific context

I’m not an artist but her advice is so interesting to me for some reason

I think shes very intentional with her critiques. She didn't make the neck shorter because she doesnt like longer necks for characters, its just for that specific character and design, the longer neck doesnt fit as well in comparison to the rest of the artstyle. Character like Candace have a really long neck cause the design is meant for it, also with her hair bulking out the silhouette, it doesn't look too odd

I think the neck was fine and a key element tbh look at candace from phineas and ferb

Leg and neck seemed like strange critiques to me, the leg should've been thick for perspective and the long neck seemed intentional for design
