Brick + Mortar - Train

Anyone who's been in love can relate with the words, "I wanna run away with you." It's one of the most grand, romantic statements you can make. It's also one of the most cliché (for good reason, of course). I wanted to play off of the trope of the star-crossed lovers by reenacting some of the most iconic scenes from famous love films to create an epic ode to amour. It all required an insane amount of work, from costumes to hair and makeup, and studying all of the scenes so we could get every emotion, angle, and shadow exactly right, but it was so worth it.

I think what makes this beautiful for me is that during the course of my life, things have not always been pretty or nice. When something bad happened and it felt inescapable, we put that person or thing "on a train". Seems silly, even to write, but it was a coping mechanism and it worked. My friends and I turned it into a game and over time, bad things seemed easier to deal with, because "fuck it" they were on their way to somewhere else. If I started to get overwhelmed, they would just have to say "train". And it would be ok.

It's been awhile, and when I heard this song, it struck me that, well first, it is another beautiful song from an amazing band, but also there is something to be said for letting go of it all and grabbing that person's hand and just moving on.

Annie Hall is one of my favorite movies and when I saw how flawlessly you pulled that off (among other films) I couldn't believe it.
