This is probably the most important tip. Cameras differ in how they process shadow and highlight information and vary in dynamic range. Getting to know how your camera processes light is also close for #1 tip

i feel like having a histogram up is one of the most important things to be able to see at a glance, gimme the exposure settings, iso, aperture and shutter speed, and a histogram and I'm happy

But why can't you see this in the image through the viewfinder? As per your final example, can't you visually determine if there is enough brightness in the sky? What does this histogram tell you that your eye can't?

I dont don't why photo cameras dont include waveform like cinema cameras. Its so much more precise. And false color too. Why guess the exposure ?
