Horse farm offers therapeutic lessons for special needs students

Hands and Hearts for Horses works with low-income families who have special needs to give them free, therapeutic horseback lessons.

The organization says the movement of the hips you get from sitting astride a horse helps release oxytocin, a feel-good and communication hormone in the brain. “So, we see a lot of progression with kids that are non-verbal saying their first words on a horse," said Executive Director Susie Shin.
