Here's the fourth tutorial in the Landscape in Colored Pencil series. In this one I'll show you how to draw clouds.

I used a Fabriano paper primed with Liquitex clear gesso and worked on top of it with Polychromos pencils.

I have devoted 2 pages on my Sketchbook, where I've drawn with pencil different clouds, all made with different styles and techniques. I've done the same for water (sea, rivers etc), trees, as also rocks as also parts from the human body, like hands, nose, feet, legs etc.
I use those as a reference, whenever I het stuck on how to draw something.
I've done cartoonish styles, for comics illustrations as also more realistic, or free hand techniques and anything between. I advise all beginners to watch this channel, and do something similar to what I just described. It will help them a lot in the long run and in the same time, it will advance your drawing skills, thus your art will look much better!! Cheers

That is so fantastic thank you so much, my favourite part of this video which is exactly what I've been looking for and struggling to find- your descriptions that make me understand what is actually happening with the clouds, sky, light, shadows, them being in front behind, etc. This was amazing thank you so much. I can draw quite well naturally but I just want to fully understand things to be able to draw them well with understanding- e.g. what the lights and shadows mean. This is true artistry that is not really talked about is the understanding of objects/materials etc. The logic of everything basically

very nice! Thank you for this demonstration. The top right cloud is incredibly complex but you did a magnificent job.

This is something I needed in the morning. Do you have any tips on drawing len flares I've been trying to get my head around drawing them with graphite pencils but have no idea how to make it work on a landscape piece.

All the landscape stuff that you draw is something that really peaks my interest and I really enjoy them. I know I asked you this question on another vid, but I don't think I was clear. But what I am looking to eventually draw, is a memory from when I was a kid. It involves a lot of the landscape style stuff you draw, as well as clouds. However, I want to add people to the landscape drawing that I'm going to do. This will have to be done in perspective. Would drawing people / characters, plus all the landscape backgrounds (clouds, trees, bushes, etc) be better on the sand paper you use or on other kind of regular paper? Because it seems that you seem to favor sand paper for landscapes and portraits, but not full characters. I hope I made sense.

Thanks for the videos, I really enjoy them!

I was looking for tutorials on how to color sky and blessed to have bumped into your tutorial because it's a bonus for me that you also included night sky and how the moon looks glowing at night. Can this be translated to bible paper for making bible journaling? Bible page texture of course is very opposite to sandpaper texture. I hope you also have tutorial on galaxy. Thank you so much for teaching. By the way I am a beginner. Not as a painter but simply beginner to coloring nicely. I want to learn and apply it to my personal bible journaling as I want mine look textured (if i can possibly do), to look realistic. Please advice how should I do it. Again thank you.

If you were using white paper, would you still color the cloud white first?

amazing clouds! But i dont understand 1 thing. You have mentioned that pencils were faber castrll polychromos, which are oil based. But in your video they behave like pastel soft pencils with a lot of dust. How is it possible?

This tutorial didn’t work for me, I probably shouldn’t have tried it since I didn’t have the same paper, I only had white paper but I just couldn’t get the values right and maybe I missed it but I didn’t hear what shade or number of grey you used so I had to experiment with a few and my resulting cloud was just pretty blah :(
