Morningland Community Update Dec 2022 - 50 Years a Cult

During Nov. and Dec. I held Live Reddit Talk events, and this is one of the last few to be published. Morningland Church, (aka Morningland Community) is spamming and rebranding to stay alive. Now that my mother and I have began publicly speaking out via this podcast and other podcast interviews, we have started slowly getting the word out that Morningland is a cult which has lasted 50 years.

The leaders who founded the church are a couple from the 70's who abandoned their own kids to run this scam of a religious cult. Healing and trafficking go together great. Here, I am doing a sweeping read of the sites people have taken to to speak out about bad experiences in this cult.

Three of the trained by the OG leaders are running this place. There is much to be concerned about. Hear ex members and visitors testimonials I collect on the web, and an update of 3rd party listings trying to claim they are food outreach to the community, they are a gym teaching yoga, they are a safe place for kids and family. I highly disagree.

Who am I? Just a person who's family was ripped apart forever by this cult. My family barely survived. I am speaking out even louder this year as we enter their 50 year anniversary. They are Gopi Saravati (directly trained by Donato and Sri Donato aka Patricia and Dan Spearato), Gopi Chokru (Mary Webber- directly trained by Sri Donato), Kamazi X5 aka the Lama (Terry (i, ie?) directly trained by Sri Donato), and others.

Here I mention where they have changed their no online presence policy, offering online meets $, and how they still cannot supress previous members from telling the public what this place is really about: it's a cult.

Also, one night during the winter of ‘97-98 (when there was that wild El Niño winter with seas of rain for months) I went to the temple, about to attend a lecture. Instead I was pulled aside but Kamazi-X5 and told to go with this man whose name I forget. But, he used to be a physician I was told. So, I had told some community members (I think Gopi Saravati) that I had been on numerous medications as a kid and teenager. Ritalin for a while, and others. This former doctor wanted to “interview” me about my past regarding that. And times I was hospitalized for depression. He took me into one of the offices downstairs, sat behind the desk and just grilled me about it all while he wrote down my answers. In all honesty, it was a bit comical even at the time this was happening. I mean, he was acting like this was professional medical work he was doing, like I was a patient. Later I was told by Gopi Shokru that this was so that they knew exactly the kind of “healing” I needed. I was told that Sri Donato herself would either read or be informed about my “history”. I really doubt that. To this day, that night was one of the weirdest experiences I had at the Morningland Temple.

As a child I too was part of this cult as well as my 2 older sisters, mother and stepfather. We were all excommunicated back in the late 70's. We were part of the Long Beach location.

My mother and i became members in 1976 in Escondido. I was 7 years old. When the separation of parent and child was addressed, my mother decided it was time to remove us from the group. I often wondered what had come of this Cult. Found your reading and it really hit home and flooded me with the what could’ve been.

I remember in ‘97 they did “Yantra yoga” classes taught by Kamazi. The exercises and poses seemed like some things I’d seen before in both kundalini and hatha. But Kamazi and Running Deer would insist that all other yogas were merely “yoga-like exercises”! 😂


The claim was that this “Yantra yoga” came directly from Tibet and was the only real yoga and all others were poor imitations of it that were missing important elements that made it a true healing yoga. Again, all others are “yoga-like exercises”..whatever!
