Tequila Hunting in Montreal, Canada!

The best that we get here in Montreal is Arette, El Tequileno, and El Tesoro… unfortunately you seem to have hit two of our SAQ’s (liquor stores) that had nothing but rubbish. Regardless, I hope you enjoyed your time in our city! Big fan of your videos

This is why I love living in the west. Our liquor stores are only 50% god awful, instead of 99%

Unfortunately liquor stores in Québec belong to the gouvernement, everything is allocated between stores and it’s hard to find stuff. They have a great selection of wine but lack in certain areas like tequila. If the Saq doesn’t carry a certain product it’s no where to be found in the whole province.

The should have some El Tesoro and El Tequileño! I’ve seen some Volcan de Mi Tierra and El Mexicano as well

and this selection is miles ahead of what we have available where I live.

Prices are crazy! I know the Canadian dollar pretty weak to the pound but still most of those are about £15 per bottle in UK

That stash of tequila is still better than I can find in Florence Italy where I live now. It's bad here for tequila

Thankfully I can get Olmeca altos at my local lcbo but yeah government controlled liquor sucks the only place in Canada where you can have independent liquor stores is in Alberta and there very successful over there cheaper prices and way more variety. A lot of times if you need something specific like an obscure liqueur your only options are go to the US and pay a ton in duty fees or get it shipped from Alberta and pay hefty shipping fees

The problem in Montreal/ the privince of Quebec. Is that the liquor store are own buy the province, so basicly the have the controle over witch brend they introduce to the store. They take more them often big brand or local compagnie. And often over price the smaller brand that are not from the provence or country

We Canadians have terrible selection for tequila not to mention the prices
