Ekornes Stressless Cracked Adjustment Knob Replacement

Just a quick video documenting the development of some improved replacement knobs for my Ekornes Stressless recliner. The original knobs have a design flaw and break constantly, and they are no longer offered by Ekornes, so I decided to come up with a proper solution.

Those of you out there looking to repair your Ekornes Stressless chair have come to the right place. Probably like you, I had become frustrated that neither Ekornes in Norway nor Unwind in the US was willing to help with parts or information on how to repair a 1997 vintage chair for my 90- year old parents. Sam from redonKilaus helped me with every detail in the repair, even though the parts he makes were not applicable for my chair. Do you recommend using grease on the bolt where the knob attaches (and if so which one)? Mine had seized and the knob wouldn't turn. Thankyou

May I just add, the reason for the parts breaking, is due to the 2 straps which should protrude from the bottom of the back, and be connected to the frame to act as a stopper, have either become damaged or were not connected. Proper attention to this detail will prevent the plastic part advancing into the bend of the metal section, and consequently creating too much stress on the plastic. Hope this helps for those of you who are still enjoying this fantastic easy chair.

I have a Mid-Century model in blue. This was my dad's chair, and i've been every where trying to find these knobs after one split. I love this thing, I can't bring myself to get rid of it, because he loved it also. It's funny how i found you. I have a cnc wood mill, and youtube led me to you. just when i gave up hope last month that i could ever repair this.

Hi, my name is Dan. I have a Stressless Reno with the older style clamps. I ordered the "new" style replacement clamps because I read that it may be possible to drill out the hole to the correct size. If this doesnt work, are you still producing these 3D printed clamps?
