What a great idea! I'm going to try this tomorrow before the gym closes early for New Year's Eve. I think most of us have a love-hate relationship with the horse stance! Your idea is much more dynamic.

Good tip! And thank you for the flap--I usually roll my eyes when I see yet another woman (in a bikini) wanting to "teach" me how to do a split. Your videos are informative and tasteful.

Thank you Summer for showcasing a beautiful yet hardcore exercise. I humbly offer a few pointers (from only six years of wushu):
1. Toes are forward as much as realistically possible. You can still go down low, you'll likely have to improve your ankle flexibility and be diligent.
2. We do not come up from the stance until the required time has elapsed. Beginners should aim for 30 seconds to a minute. Masters can hold this for 30 minutes; that's the gold standard.
3. Remember to breathe and focus, even as you are shaking. I promise you you'll have some spiritual experiences.
Lastly, watch Jackie Chan in the original Drunken Master for what a top form horse stance looks like.
