The contract Z made protected the Raiders from both sides….if Carr sucked we get rid of him save boatload’s of capspace and possibly try and trade him. If he balls out we have him under a pretty good deal considering what other mid level QBs are about to get paid. Ziegler is playing the media like a fiddle and look forward to everyone changing tune once we load up in free agency and the draft. Z knows exactly what he is doing brother.

Oh man, Raiders just walked away from a 40 million dollar contract, and can now use the movie to pay an even better QB or build on that offense. Also who is to say Carr would even want to play out his last year of his contract? That’s pure speculation.

I think they legit wanted to give him a shot and wanted an out, albeit an expensive out, should shit go south which it did. Was it the best laid plan? No. But ultimately that only cost 5 mil in dead cap and the headache that is derek and the carr family is gone

They gave him a new contract on the basis that he would perform and he didn't happens all the time in the NFL you seem surprised cuz we did not get a 6th or 7th round for a QB that was past his time.
