Have you ever heard that voice in your head that is just super negative towards you? It tells you all the things you can't do, all the things you've failed at, all the things that aren't possible for you.

When you are having a riding lesson and the coach asks you to do something, and this voice says:"๐’€๐’๐’– ๐’˜๐’๐’'๐’• ๐’ƒ๐’† ๐’‚๐’ƒ๐’๐’† ๐’•๐’ ๐’…

In this video, you'll learn what you can do to silence that voice. Understanding that this voice is not real, you'll learn to dial down this voice. You'll discover not only how failure equals success, but you'll learn how to embrace failure and the voice within to succeed in your riding and enjoy the process.

Wow. It felt amazing to hear that. Actually got tear-y. I am having such trouble with those doubts, I have quit riding. I have lots of excuses for not riding the love of my life, money, time, etc. I tell myself, I really just enjoy hand walks with him more than riding. I actually really do enjoy just going for a walk with him, but I would love to ride and feel safe. I love the example of learning to walk, but have to say, when I was learning to walk I had a big cushioned diaper and was a heck of a lot closer to the ground than when Iโ€™m riding, ๐Ÿ˜† but you are right. When did I start giving up so easily? Iโ€™m going to watch this video over and over and get it firmly in my headโ€ฆ It is so inspiring. Actually, this is the second video of yours that I have watched today and both were so helpful.!!! Thank you, Thank you. Thank you. ๐Ÿ˜˜

I love this and it makes me so sad that people let that voice dictate their beliefs about themselves. I took a 35 year hiatus from riding and have been back in the saddle for just a few months now. Every ride is a huge session for me now. As I drive to the barn for my weekly lesson, I am curious about what I will learn today, how the horse will be today. I anticipate the dopamine rush that will last for hours after the ride :) So to the young riders out there, approach each ride with curiosity, appreciate the gift and privilege of learning and exploring your abilities. It's about you and the horse, not how others ride. That's their journey. Thanks you to YRS for all these wonderful videos you have been producing. Your messages are brilliant.

It's great to know that it's not only me having doubts when riding. I can overcome this funny voice by thinking: 'All right, maybe it is so. But then I'll just keep on riding for pleasure today.' And whenever I do that, I feel so relaxed, the pressure is gone immediately, and strange enough but as I'm not tense any more, the horse reacts so well that everything starts to work out perfectly well, and I start to feel satisfied. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Iโ€™m an adult novice that recently encouraged my daughter to take part in her first dressage test but refused to do it myself because of this voice. She had the same voice but pushed through and was so proud of herself. This belief we have can really hold you back very glad I found this.

Very relatable not only in riding but other parts of life whether it be professional or personal. But sometimes itโ€™s so hard to not let that voice win!

Iโ€™ve focused on my daughters riding and put my desires on hold. So now at 60 Iโ€™m learning English. Iโ€™ve got a stubborn Clydesdale or OTTB who is ready to GO to learn on. So your comment about learning in failure was really great reminder. My frustration with my older body with less strength almost got the best of me. Thank you for this video.

Thank you Natasha! I needed this today. Iโ€™ve been struggling getting into a routine after moving my horse home to our farm. Itโ€™s a blessing but itโ€™s also so much change. I appreciate you!

I haven't watched this channel in ages but it's so refreshing! I don't know why, but you guys are so inspiring, you're looking at and researching all the details of dressage riding(not only the physical part of it which I appreciate so much), trying the help everyone one with their journey and just not being appreciated enough, actually. It's really impressive everything you do, thank you so much! Sadly my riding friends don't speak English, otherwise I'd recommend you๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for speaking on this subject...
I am 61 and I have the same. And it ruled over me, stunting my growth. I've been listening to videos of Joseph Rodriguez and Abraham Hicks... they talk about over coming this voice. Thanks again. Good to hear!!

Iโ€™ve recently gotten back into riding after a few years and Iโ€™m still a โ€œnoviceโ€ as an adult. This voice can be so loud sometimes, especially when I compare myself to people who have been riding their whole lives!

I love the quote โ€œcomparison is the thief of joyโ€ and itโ€™s really started to help me come to terms with making mistakes in my riding and being okay with where Iโ€™m at, and just enjoying the moment

I was doing ok until someone at pony club said that I was a cowboy and a shit rider and that when the voice in my head got very loud. I gave up for 15 years now I just ignore the hate speech and do my own thing. Which lead me to YRS and DMA where everyone is positive helpful and kind thanks Tash you started this for me.

I LOVE the statements about โ€œtrying until.โ€ We try until we can walk. None of us gives up as a baby and says, โ€œI guess walking isnโ€™t for me.โ€ Keep trying a dial down the volume of that negative voice!

My aha๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿคฏ moment- to turn down that voice like a car radio.. have to try this in my next lesson!
My biggest take away- we are all stars โœจโญ I love that. That was big and just MORE.

I don't know what I'd do without you(Tash) and Alecia and the whole YRS team. Your help helps me in every day life, and in riding.. and you guys don't even know me. Thank you so much for your everything guys. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡๐ŸŒ

Itโ€™s amazing to hear that a ยซย winnerย ยป also has this type of thoughts. But I have to say, itโ€™s not that easy.
This year, my coach gave me the best horse we have at the stable, this horse went on top level international competitions with its previous rider, but since I ride him, I arrived last at every single competition. I put SO MUCH pressure on myself, that the jury even wrote on my last test ยซย horse contracted by its riderย ยป (lol)
And I love that horse SO MUCH, but I hate the feeling of being judged because I canโ€™t do it.
I reached the point where I donโ€™t enjoy anymore, Iโ€™m very close to just stop riding and it makes me very sad. Iโ€™m often crying during my trainings, which had never happened to me before.

I know itโ€™s ยซย just a voice in my headย ยป and I should ยซย make it stopย ยป. And I know that the reason why I fail is because Iโ€™m so contracted, I put so much pressure on myself and therefore on the horse.

As you say, itโ€™s not about ME, itโ€™s not about being a good, or a bad rider, itโ€™s about believing the learning process and having confidence, but I just canโ€™t do it.

I just want to thank you so much, your video came at a very poignant time in my life and has inspired me to never give up...at anything! Your words should go out to so many more people outside of horse riding as well. Some things come to people so naturally, and some just have to keep trying but the determination is what makes us stronger always. You are an lovely inspiration to us all x

OMG TYSM FOR MAKING ME REALISE THIS!!! I have been riding for 2 years and I am self taught (only just starting to get lessons now) and that whole 2 years I had that same voice in my head saying I wasn't good enough, I should quit, I suck at riding and will never get anywhere but you made me realise and helped me understand how to put this voice away an concentrate on my riding. I do the EXACT same thing you just describe in this video and I have the same competitive spirit and I have a voice saying I always have to win and be the best at everything which really sucks sometimes because when i don't win or fail it gets really hard for me to get out of that mindset of I suck and i will never become the rider I want to be but this video helped me SO SO SO MUCH and I can now turn off that voice and just have fun learning and improving in my riding!!!

(sorry for the long comment btw)
