✅The Ultimate Home Building Checklist✅:

There are 3 ways to add pest control to your new construction home during the framing stage. Some may even last the life of the home.
1. Boric Acid - This is a powder form of Boric Acid that can be sprinkled in the stud bays that will kill roaches and other bugs who come in contact with it. It stays behind the wall and keeps working for decades after being applied.
2. Bora-Care – It’s technically called Borate treatment. Bora-care is the brand of chemical used. It treats the studs and exterior sheathing from termites. They use a green dye to ensure adequate coverage.
3. In-wall pest control - This is a way to regularly treat the inside of your walls with pesticides because little tubs are run inside the stud bays. The pest control tech will treat the home from outside by connecting to a hub and injecting the treatment.

Which pest control do you plan on including in your next house?

Professional pest control operator here: the first 2 are tried and true methods. Boric acid stays effective for over 100 years, if undisturbed and dry (if it gets wet, it just washes away). The in-wall line is just a gimmick, do NOT spend your hard-earned money on that. You'd be better off cutting small, inconspicuous port hole to allow you to spray pesticide inside the walls at your own discretion, but if you did a good enough job with the boracare and boractin, you won't need to do any further treatments. Hope this helps!

It’s also a good time to install a direct line to an oncologist.

I used to work for the in wall pest control company (HomeTeam Pest Defense) and it’s a massive scam. In wall doesn’t work at all, it clogs up and there’s no way to maintain the system. It’s a literal joke.

Bora-Care is literally a liquid form of borax/boric acid. When it dries it is a crystalline substance.
I used bora-care when I renovated and several years later still no bugs. Borax is a great and persistent pesticide.

Bro there’s no way I would ever install a tap line inside my house for poison to be sprayed. That’s crazy.

The last one seems like a gimmick because the insulation would limit the spray area.

I use the 4th way - Plutonium-239. It's a little hard to get, but it's probably safer than the 3rd way.

I think I'd go for the first 2. The third, I'm not too confident in. Wrapping it up, remember to check every step for rodent control!

As someone in pest control the tube in the wall called the Traxx system is the least effective solution. They have a tendency to clog and once you build the house you can’t fix it. Also having dead organic material (i.e bugs) in the wall voids in turn will attract different kind of unwanted pests. In the end of the day you have to take care of the colonies out in the yard with an eco friendly company like Aptive

that last way sounds like a good way to poison someone slowly

First step is to seal up the holes so nothing gets in there in the first place

...and then that in wall pest control gums up. When they try to inject into the outside nozzle, most of it sprays out rather than going into the wall tube. Of course the company charges >100$ per visit, saying that they and only they have the rights to that service hub. Its a gimmick...

That tube system is known as the TAEXX system. I used to work for a pest control company that injected into those lines. We had another section of our company that did the installs during the build as well as the borate treatment.

Here in Queensland Australia, termites are rampant
All our framing is pressure treated with the same stuff you spray on.

The boric acid would be a good idea. The other chemicals I’m not fond of. There are other ways to help prevent decay and other destructive insect that are safe from chemicals

make a few drywall panels removable every now and then. You just don't glue them to the adjacent panels, and you use different screws to fasten them to the stud.
That way if you have to do something inside the wall, you know you have access points.
It's up to you to choose how many of them you want. I usually do one every 10 feet or something

The one time Sparky sweeps up is the time you put the powder down 😩

I have Bora-Care all over my studs, and it’s amazing. No termites, no cockroaches.

I wonder if you could put some diatomaceous earth in there, too. The stuff is pretty effective against bed bugs and some other stuff.

If you have frequent pest activity in your area, reoccurring treatments around the perimeter of the foundation are adequate for preventing pest activity inside the home. The in wall pest lines are a scam sold by certain pest companies to get you to use their services since only they can access the in wall system they installed.
