Does that food packet labeled as organic that you recently bought really organic or is it just a marketing gimmick to charge you extra for the normal food with just a label change?

Our food supply chain is under constant threat from adulteration which is affecting many lives. And there is no way to know the origin of the problem. According to WHO, 1 out of every 10th person becomes ill every year after consuming contaminated food, which ends up taking approximately 420,000 lives every year.

Here in this video, we will look at the challenges that our food industry is facing today. Further, we will also see how blockchain is going to disrupt this industry and bring about a paradigm shift in how it works.

Not fully clear on how does it solve the problem of trust. Immutability needed is at SKU and packaging level and not just record entry level. e.g. If food processor works with multiple farms and processes in bulk, how do they identify which leaf of lettuce came from which farm.
Or if a food processor sources apples from multiple farms and segregate them on the basis of size and freshness for various markets, how do they trace which apple came from which farm? Records are muddled at early stage itself. Food processors will have to follow farm level processes, which may be inefficient.

Genuinely curious to understand this benefit of blockchain, if some expert can explain.
