He was a man of his time. To Americans he was the beacon of hope, the light at the end of the tunnel. He used radio to communicate to every household. His policies helped Americans get through the hardships of the great depression. And finally, he lead the country to a war against fascism.

Words can’t describe how much grief people felt when he passed away. Truly one of the best US president in history.

74 years ago today, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt passed away at Warm Springs, Georgia, thus ending the longest term that any President has served, as well as a long & distinguished career in public service. A man who guided the nation through two of her darkest moments.

When I worked overseas, my office had the portraits of Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, and Martin Luther King. Profiles in courage.

he led the people from pearl harbor to victory.

he did much for the USA's allies
for the USA's allies would do much for the US itself

he was the man who wishes for world peace
pushed for polio vaccines
brought in reforms to end the great depression

i may not know alot about hiswhole presidency
but i do know, that that was one of the few moments where the USA really grieved the loss of a leader ;-;

My father lived in occupied Holland during the WO II. The Dutch were in shock when he died. They could not understand it: a month before the capitulation of nazi Germany. It felt so wrong, so unjust.

I was impressed by the emotion shown by African Americans. Roosevelt didn't do everything but made progress and recognition of African Americans and their contribution to the war effort and American society, more so than his predecessors and this was recognized. Eleanor Roosevelt wrote of his belief in the rights of all Americans to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and specifically called out minority citizens.

Quick correction: he was the 32nd POTUS, not the 31st. Thanks for the vid! :)

He was the 32nd President. Cleveland is counted as the 22nd and 24th.
