This is my first Pineider fountain pen. I unbox it, talk about the parts and features of the pen, provide some size comparisons and measurements, and then do a writing sample. After the writing sample, I talk about what I like and what I don't like about the pen. Please feel free to use the chapters provided below to skip to various parts of the review.

I personally got that pen from Dante when he was in Chicago for the day, along with other, Pineider’s kind of brought the pen budget that day…but that’s OK. Dante is truly an amazing man. I love talking to him about all the different projects he’s taking throughout the years.

Another entertaining review. I like mine because it's vacuum filler that's so easy to clean. Also, leaving the nib section off helps the pen dry in our seriously humid climate where I live. My Custom 823 can take a week to dry fully for storage.

Dante is definitely The Godfather of fountain pen iconic designs. Thanks Doug

Got mine a few days ago with fine nib. I love everything about this pen EXCEPT for one thing: the fine nib writes like a medium. I don't like medium nibs.

Thank you Doug, very informative video. Great review, very comprehensive as usual 🙂. Happy New Year to you and yours.

Couldn't agree more, Doug. I picked up one of these (clear) for my birthday and have been quite impressed by it. I have other vac fillers but this one is just a lot less fuss to get a very full fill that lasts and lasts. It's a great pen!

Nice review. Need to look for that Avatar vs hammer video, raises the hairs in the back of my neck!!!

Hey Doug, that rod can be completely removed with a flathead at the plunger o-ring head. If you put the screwdriver in the section side of the barrel and hold it there while twisting the other side, you can pull it all apart.

Excellent review as always, Doug. I have two Pineider UR pens— one with the metal section, another with the rubber section (which I prefer).

Great review, Doug! Can't wait for those aircraft/pen experiments ... should be interesting and fun.

Thanks as always for your reviews and opinions which I always respect. I had to laugh out loud in this review. When you reviewed the Asvine P126 (love the pen) I mentioned in the comments how much I loved my Pineider Twin Tank that I got from Dante. We exchanged comments, in one of them you said "Dante is a totally AWESOME DUDE! But those Pineiders are SO expensive!" I guess you either got this one for free or you changed your mind. I knew you would eventually fall in line. By the way, I have not had any leaking issues at all.

Hey Doug, I’m looking forward to seeing those in-flight videos. Should be good. Don’t get ink on your fellow travelers. 😂. Enjoyed today’s video.

One of the FPD offers I saw online yesterday was for this pen and I'd never heard of the 'touchdown' filling system and your comment this isn't one got me intrigued, sorry, inktrigued. So I used your on-site search option and found a Sheaffer (who had developed the system) and a Penbbs. After watching those 2 videos, the Pineider is definitely not a touchdown filler. Have you maybe since learned why Pineider chose that filling name anyway?

I didn't realize the two-reservoir design was common enough to not be discussed. I was looking to hear some thoughts on it

Dear Doug, this looks like a pen of superior design and manufacture. Trouble is, I hate the material, which screams 'plastic cafeteria plate' to me. Be that as it may, thanks for an excellent review.

Some really good design features but I’m worried about the ink leaching out. I love the amount of ink it carries.I’ve been looking at the Pineiders for awhile as they have some interesting designs. There’s a lack of pen shops to try pens out and those that are here have an extremely limited range. So I need to make my buying decisions by living vicariously through you. So no pressure Doug! However I do think it would be great to see how your pens travel. Mine do well on a flight but there’s only one that I use on the plane to fill out those pesky documents Australia insists on. That’s my Waterman Carene. Looking forward to your video with Applebaum. Be careful on the plane, Barry Humphrey’s got banned for a sick bag stunt. Thanks again.

The clip, cap, and the cap ring may be my favorite features, though the cap ring looks like it still doesn’t feel as solid as I’d like. But it looks like it’s still a beautiful writer.

So, the unbreakable resin in the blind cap can get nicked and the unbreakable resin in the barrel can get scratched by posting? That doesn't sound super tough. The bayonet style blind cap seems like a neat idea, but those lock/unlock icons seems silly and ugly. This does seem like a nice pen. I'm not sure I'm ready to plunk down $200, yet, but it's on my radar, now. Thanks for another great review.

An excellent review, Doug. You can swap nibs easily. I put in the Pineider Quill / Hyperflex nib. But you also need to swap out the feed that goes with the nib for it to work properly.

I enjoy this pen a lot. The maintenance of the pen is easy. I did not have any leakage when I reassembled the pen. Sorry to see that you did.

Is this a keeper? For me, yes. Is it better than the Original + or penBBS rains to be seen. Any opinion on this?

Dante is a wonderful person, passionate about pens and motorcycles. I met him twice.

Pineider's Bock nibs seem to be well adjusted to good enough wetness and tend to be on the thinner side. I knew that Kaweco Sport's 060 Bock nib could be tuned to be excellent writer(which has a very soft springy feel for a steel nib!) without that premium or gold price, though also, Leonardo's switch from Bock, seems to me, all of this is rather less indicative of Bock's poorer QC problem we usually heard about, they can make great steel nibs that don't feel like nail, but I assume they had 'bad' order specification that even Leonardo failed to double check back. From my experience handling vintage-ish soft gold nibs, softer nibs aren't as steady as harder nibs, when its being pushed, there is more chance that the slit grazes the paper sharply, thus created scratchiness that might startle the inexperienced users, creating bad feedback(both writing experience, and manufacture specification) against Bock, compare this to the commonly perceived Sailor nibs' good feedback, which perhaps partly to have become popular and expected. maybe, Kaweco tried to mitigate it by ordering more smoothing on the inner side of tines, making a lot of Kaweco Sport nibs to have very obvious baby's bottom, maybe Pineider ordered such ornate stamping so the Bock nib is stiffer(thus less prone to tine inside grazing-scratch) than usual
