If Vogelbach can make the active roster on opening day, so can Martinez. The team wasn't worried about his defence, his base running nor his atbats vs lefties.

It’s a great start of the spring season but we haven’t seen nothing yet. Nice to see the young stars having a chance to make the team.

My idea of the lineup:
C Kirk-Heineman
INF
OF Springer-Varsho(Loperfido if Varsho isn't ready by opening day)-Santander-Roden-Lukes
It sucks for guys who were set to do well like Wagner, Clase, Loperfido but this is who I would go with.

OM can easily replace Davis S. MLB has had opening day on a Thursday for years now. Our game is a 3 pm game so it is not an opening night, but a Opening DAY!

I think you give him the spot Jiminez is currently projected to have in that graphic and let him start at 3B when Bichette needs a day off or a day DHing (Ernie SS or 2B w/ Giminez playing whatever Ernie doesn't), days when Ernie is off and/or days when a flyball pitcher is in. I see Wagner coming onto the field if Vlad or Gimenez need a day off, on those days Orelvis can DH (unless Vlad DHes). Primarily he DHes against lefties, possibly mixing in some days against RHPs as well - hot hand etc. I see Wagner spelling Vlad and he could also spell Gimenez. Not a good defensive 2B? See the next paragraph.

I'm also giving Roden the spot over Schneider if the season started tomorrow. Need a backup CF and Straw can be that, don't really need another INF with Wagner and Orelvis both on the squad and not playing the field daily. This is an offensive league. Look at the best teams in MLB last year and you'll notice every single one of them prioritizes offense over defense. Defense is great and matters more over a larger sample but it's not that difficult a decision to trade defense off for offense when you're talking about spelling regulars.

it's 2 games and spring training, there are decisions to be made yet. Talk about jumping the gun. Let's maybe wait a few weeks (or 10 mins) to see if it's real lol

They should have kept Horowitz then they wouldn't have this problem

We will how he is playing at the end of March…. Have him DH and play some first if he can crack the team

Maybe they should do a "Guerrero" and move him to first...

It's still happening - bad plate discipline, when is JS going to be accountable for his team's repeated habits? Jimenez, bases loaded, top of 3rd, Red Sox bring in a single A guy who in total threw about 12 pitches, only one being a strike - and Jimenez swings at 3 obvious balls (after the guy before him walked on obvious balls) after Jimenez said the day before, he was getting back to his power year. Just sad! Then there is Bo, first AB, leading off vs Yankee's, first pitch, swing, a weak grounder to 2nd. He seen ZERO pitches! We need lead off guys going deep into the count, see a few BUT Bo can barely get to 4 pitches, and if he is still batting at the 4th pitch, 95% of the time he has two strikes on him, playing protect - this is NOT lead-off material. However to Bo's credit, next AB, he worked it to a full count forcing the pitch to come to him and hit a sharp single (RBI I think?)....more of that Bo!

Only if JS put that much expectation into Vladdy and his base running, and into Bo for his plate discipline! SMH. De La Cruz led the majors in errors last season at 29, now lets divide that into 150 games assuming Orelvis plays that many, and assuming he leads the league in errors - that is 1 error every 29.5 games, at worst - in an offensively starved line-up, you take the power hits every second/third game and live with the 1 error every 29.5 games - its easy math.

I dont care they are rookies. This is the last kick at the can before we're probably a last place team for 5-10 years

Sit Springer, Let Lukes and Roden play.

Forget Clements as the starting 3B, Hes a utility guy. Orelvis has high ceiling potential.

We have to feild the best team possible, regardless of contract status, amount owed or any other excuses.

Schneider Jiminez and Straw as a bench is a

None of those guys should even be on the roster this year

I don’t know why we keep saying about winning this season are you people crazy, we’re going to lose our two best players & not getting anything for them to win one season wild card at best, is it me or why are we saying about winning this season & F up our future for one year ????
