The day COVID-19 changed everything in B.C. can be traced back to March 12. From a low risk of British Columbians getting Covid 19, to rapid closures of public places to stem the spread health authorities say everything changed on that day.

These are crazy times we live in, but we will prevail.

There is always hope!

Please, please shut down non-essential work places like Ontario!!! I really want to stay home but my boss doesn't want to close the business.

surprising because Vancouver started social distancing a week or more after Seattle. and yet WA state had nearly 5x as many cases and nearly 11x as many deaths. I think partially it's luck... BC avoided a terrible super-spreader event quite as big as the Kirkland WA senior home one. but I think part of it could be just Vancouver culture -'boring city' people say LOL and also everyone loves the outdoors - beaches, hiking, etc. those are NOT social distancing but they would likely reduce the spread of COVID a lot more than, say, crowded downtown NY-style lifestyle... or events like Mardi Gras or Florida spring break. lastly it could be the BC CDC's great clarity.

now, first, TBH I do NOT think neither the BC or Canadian government deserve strong praise. every single step they've taken as been reactive -- reactive doing something that 2-4 weeks earlier they said they wouldn't do. never ever PROACTIVE.

but.... t

but the BC CDC has did one thing amazing: high rate of testing-per-capita; FOCUSED tested on people who can spread it the most (e.g. healthcare workers); and very very clearly daily updates since way back in February

I think this has helped a lot it ENGAGING the public and making most people care.

that was where the USA failed... far more people were careless until the very last moment, whereas in BC, I think a lot minority took it serious way back in February, and a large majority took it serious in early March -- in part thanks to the CDC

Clovis-19 didn’t change anything however the response to it sure did.

stop trying to save money and shut the city down and take the loses as it is. more days you wait, more lives gone. you're responsible for the lives lost from here and forward
