I just lost my cockatiel who was with me for 20 years... Its heartbreakin, we became friends and we hugged each other almost daily. For new owners make sure you spend time with your bird if, especially so if you only have one cockatiel, they will see you as their partner and get worried if youre not home too often. They will make you smile and they will do stuff but you will love them no matter what. Best of companions, and a lifetime experience for me what Doris was for me

I have recently bought my new little fella, Titus and i took my time to get to know him. It took a few weeks of just sitting on my couch and he observed me lol. Being older had its benefits..every kid wants to touch but as an adult I chose not to. I was careful abt letting him have cage free time and used a wooden spoon with a rounded handle to teach him to perch, not my fingers. Well what a thrill. He trusts me now. He now hops from the spoon to my flat hand, climbs up onto my shoulder. I sing to him, feed him grated carrot, broccolini, and grated apple along with his seed. I can’t whistle so i play him whistling tunes from Spotify. Thank you for your vid. I am keen to find out as much as I can to give my gorgeous pet the best care I can give ❤

I can't thank you enough for educating people about how to own a cockatiel pet correctly. These little creatures are awesome, so smart and lovable. Something else that is terrible is when owners start doing things to the cockatiel to elicit certain behaviors that they deem funny. Hence, some cockatiels become aggressive and hiss to people. Their livers suffer with this and their lifespan is shortened. Thank you!!! ❤

My bird had a 3-5 month period of being in their cage but we’re fixing it. Remember, if you feel like a bad bird owner, you CAN become a good one. Just try to help your bird and fix your mistakes, and you will become the best bird owner you can be.

I plan to soon get a cockatiel because when i was a kid we used to have a pet bird but it died when i was a teenager and the ambiance of the household has never been the same since. Hopefully the tips shown are true and i thank you for making this video as i learned a bunch of new things about these birds!

My aunt and uncle were terrible owners of a cockatiel. They named her "bird" and kept her in a tiny cage her entire life and fed her seeds alone. She plucked her feathers out. :(

I’ve had my cockatiel for over 10 yrs and never had to clip his nails. He does that on his own.

I just bought a 2 months old cockatiel (lutino)today.

Does the cold affect the cockatiel?
Is it alright to turn on air conditioner with him in the room.
I also cover the cage with something so he can sleep well.
Is it alright to do that?

Hello. Thanks for the wonderful video. I just rescued a Cockatiel from my backyard she can’t fly and I need all the help and suggestions you can give me. Also I have a nice kitty in home but she’s really friendly with him. But I never had a bird before

0:29 I think this may go for every bird species. I know that my budgies do not like to be touched there. Whenever I touch Artemis’s, my male’s, wings or back by accident he flinches and flies away from me. They don’t like it.

I live alone, and I work 9 hours a day, sadly I must leave her alone until I back home, but than I give her the best she can get.

New cockatiel owner, Story is, My brother didn't want to have the bird anymore, And It was either I take him or My grandma takes him, But she has a bunch of dogs, And I didn't want anything bad to happen To him, So I've been taking care of him, a little of a rocky start, Were both getting use to each other, And I'm enjoying owning this bird, His name is Sunshine, So this video IS a great reminder for me to be the best owner I can possibly be for him
