Years ago I happened to be booked into a very large Inn which was affiliated with the Playboy Club. It was located somewhere in New York State. I was flown in for one night only and it was so long ago that I can’t recall specifics. It just so happened that Sturr was booked there also.

I had never met the man, but almost as soon as I arrived I got more than an ear full of him. He had flown a lady that he was dating in from Nashville. I later learned that she was actually on my flight. She was a receptionist for BMI or ASCAP. I’m not sure which, but I and a couple of my band members were invited to Sturr’s home. Actually, it was his parent’s home. He was in his late 30”s and still lived at home, but I heard he was still living with his parents when he was 64. Odd, right? But, I can understand why.

A lot of Jimmy’s fans had booked rooms at this Inn and I had the chance to meet a number of them. There were 2 of the sweetest elderly Polish ladies that befriended me and it wasn’t long until I was learning more about Sturr than I could have imagined.

While playboy bunnies took our late lunch order, a tall, attractive woman passed by our table. The two ladies immediately recognized her and identified her as Jimmy’s girlfriend. Now, that confused me, because this was not the Nashville girlfriend, Olivia. “His girlfriend, ” I asked? They both replied at the same time, “Well, one of them.” Apparently, the lady knew that Jimmy was flying in another woman and an argument had been brewing between Sturr and this New York lady for a long while. I thought to myself, there’s going to be fireworks tonight and sure enough there were. To add insult to injury, Sturr had given the Nashville girlfriend a new car and that wasn’t setting well with the New York girlfriend. Sturr was beginning to sound like a real jackass to me and I’d later found out how true that was.

In the little time I spent with Sturr, I learned a lot about what type of character he was. He had two women fighting over him at the show, but obviously that wasn’t enough, because cause he was openly flirting with me, but that’s not the worst. There came a time when I was alone backstage and Jimmy came waltzing in with a big grin on his face, walked up to me, tried to cup my face and plant a kiss on me. Seriously! He obviously thought more of himself than I thought of him. I recoiled and he acted surprised saying, “What, no kiss?” I looked at him with disgust and clearly insulted him. What a jerk. I was 19 years old.
